I decided to reduce to 2 pills a day and take 1/2 Imodium in place of the one pill. That has helped return normal BMs. What a great idea, never thought of that. Imodium (by itself) helps me for a couple days but over the long haul seemed to stop working. Never thought of using it in combination wit...

That is some news I can use. I will taper more slowly. And as noted elsewhere, I don't need the full dose of 3 pills a day to maintain remission. I can get by on 2. I am reading that some people on this board maintain remission on much less (one Entocort a day, or 1 every other day). I will try that...

Bob, one more question: do you have to use the Prednisone each time you restart Entocort? I had the impression you just went straight back to Entocort... I haven't taken Prednisone after the little 3 day course my doc prescribed in 2006. If I am feeling really good and have had normal BM for a coup...

Re: A return of inflammation

I was doing so well--I was on the MRT diet and everything was going along... Well, that's in the past... and now I'm spending time awake at night listening to my intestines gurgle and feeling that hated liquidy feeling. Anyone else have that? The worst is that now I have tried GF/EF/DF/SF and given...

and I hope that some day you will be successful in weaning off the budesonide. Not a biggie for me at this point - I am glad to have a "cork" that works. Fortunately I need less than the full prescribed dose to maintain control, so all is well. Wow that price is great, 45 cents a pill. I ...

After Bob was able to achieve remission, he eventually stopped posting, and it's been 4 or 5 years since he last posted, I believe, so he probably won't see your post. You might try e-mailing him directly Hi Folks, sorry about disappearing for so long. I was working out of town most of that time (m...

Re: Lotronex, Entocort

Has anyone found that Entocort helped once you gave it a second try? Yeah, it worked for me a 2nd time. I had "D from hell" for a decade, with a severe 6 month flair that was HALTED with a stiff dose of Prednisone and followed by Entocort, 2 to 3 a day as needed. Worked so well that I wen...

I'm three weeks from seening the doc about adrenal testing now. I don't know if your doc is a holistic oriented doc, or more narrow minded MD that only recognizes Addisons disease before agreeing there is a problem with adrenals, but I would order this test and have the results within 3 weeks http:...

I had NO aldesterone last July and the docs weren't even interested. It's back up now, but what a mystery. What is it back up to? Is it over the centerline of normal range? Mine was in the lower 1/4 of normal range, and I could fix a lot of the symptoms by adding lot of sea salt (see post above). I...

Re: .

Taking thryroid medicine has never done what it promised, no matter what the type (Armour, levothyroxin or synthroid). My hands & feet are better, but still cold, I still have alligator skin on my shins, cracked hands/heels, etc. I think your low cortisol is preventing the thyroid from entering...

If I remember correctly, Matthew started out with that diet and it helped him tremendously. Yep, and he is a great success story. He was helping me with PM's when I was trying it, I did a very strict application of that diet for months... and it didn't help me personally. I mean not at all. some pe...

I'm now the proud owner of scripts for Cortef and Armour. Bobh, you have another convert. Coolness. I have been buried at work - just checking back. This is interesting, and that your blood labs showed a cortisol issue. Your Dr must be looking "within" the range, as you have to be almost ...

I wonder if it is a male issue in particular - my mother is a another example to contradict this; her problems were initially related to the thyroid only - later in life the food intolerances and diarrhea appeared for her. What I am about to say may not apply to anyone here - but let me make a comm...

Hi Tex, you are right on the need to check the Free T3. The eyebrows thing is a definite sympom, my brother noticed that, got labs 2 months ago, has low Ft3, high TSH, Hashi antibodies. Then we checked his adrenals and he had that too - with lots of symptoms clear up when it was adressed (anxiety, s...

No, I haven't noticed that. In my opinion, if someone has low cortisol levels, bringing them back to normal would not present problems. But then, I don't personally have weight issues - mine is the other way around. I turned into a scarecrow after my health went south 20 years ago, after a severe ca...
