Advice, Opinions, and Musings...Entocort, Imuran, Adrenals

Brief history...budesonide for two years, stopped in August because of Adrenal Fatigue (Low DHEA) and because it wasn't really working (or so I thought-still had diarrhea). Once I went off though, I could only eat cauliflower and turnips. I reacted to basically everything, so I conceded to repeat co...

I have found that Zantac is very helpful for a short period if you have mast cell issues. It is the H2 blocker and definitely decreases histamine issues and diarrhea for me. It taken too long however, the decreased stomach acid can contribute to worsening problems in digestion. It might be worth a t...

I bought Jo Mar pure form 21 blend amino acids. No script. You can buy powder, which would be easier. I take 10-15 pills 3-5x a day :)

Deb, right now I am taking large doses of an amino acid supplement that is use in elemental diets. I had tried eating meat most of the time, and it seemed to make me worse! I don't have too much of an appetite either. Thankfully the supplement keeps me from losing weight!

I have a close friend who had thyroid cancer about 5 years ago. I am sure she would be willing to correspond if you have questions. I just saw the note on your profile!

I have started taking iodine, since the sea salts and mineral salts we use are not supplemented with iodine. I have seen a big improvement in energy and have decreased my thyroid dose since I started.

Finally Something is Working!

I wanted to share my progress, though it is a little bit of a strange path. I know that the majority of my issues are with histamine, so despite elimination of allergic foods I was unable to achieve remission. Last week I read an article about a woman with histamine issues who stopped eating meat. H...

No, Tex, that is very clear, thanks! The original ones were only most intermediate, and none, however, so either the none changed to slight, or they added one.

Thanks again!

Clarification of Enterolab Antigenic Foods Results

I have been reading through quite a few posts where people say that their results from Enterolab for the 11 Antigenic Foods (rice, corn, nuts, ets) are 3+ or 1+, etc. My results just said "most immunologic activity, intermediate activity and no activity." Has the interpretation of these re...

Lesley,

I would suggest switching to Zantac. PPIs did nothing for me. The antihistamine in Zantac works quite well. I try not to take it, but when I do it definitely helps.

No apology necessary! Thank you for commiserating. It is very comforting to hear for you! I think the frustrating thing is, there is something to be done about food, not much to do about hormones :(

Yep, I just turned 38. My doc wants me on Imuran, so despite my misery, I cancelled the appt I had for tues, and am giving the pepto a go. Eggs, yeast, and soy are other foods you may want to consider eliminating. Lets be n touch. I am pretty certain I need to eliminate my one cup of coffee again. I...

Hi Fiona, thanks for the input. Is this your first course of treatment, or are you coming to pepto after something else has failed?

Thanks, Susie

Marie, We do sound similar. I have been doing GAPS since January. I have been treated for candida, SIBO, and take antihistamines for mast cell issues. My biggest issue right now is my silly throat. I tried duck again tonight after not having it for several months, and I have obviously developed an i...

Thanks Leah! Are you practicing some sort of nutritional practice in SF? Thinking I may need to come see you :)
