Got the OK to lower to 2 a day and if it doesn't produce any changes, he says he'll lower it to one. My goal is to get off them completely with no relapse. I'm so grateful to get to lower the dosage before any side effects kick in. The two I was most leery of were moon-face and losing my hair. So I'...

Norman has been a faithful houseguest for over a week and I'm grateful, but now I'm starting to have the opposite problem. While I'm not constipated, I'm having to strain to go and I seem to be going very little each day. I'm wondering if this is a pendulum effect and my digestive system will swing ...

Stool vs Blood Test for Celiac

I have a question. I had both the blood and stool test for celiac as part of my diagnostic barrage of tests and both were negative. Is one test more "sensitive" than the other? Or are both about the same? On another note, I got pissed off over this diagnosis, went into a bit of denial and ...

Tex, I got curious after reading your response and double checked my prescription on Entocort. I'm on 9mg for 60 days, 6 mg for the next 60 and 3mg for the following 30 days. That should be enough I think. Finally seeing some changes in consistency. Got all silt this morning and that's a good sign. ...

Question on Celiac Test Results

I have a question on testing for celiac that some of you might have an answer for. I tested negative for celiac on both blood and stool samples. I also had a small bowel enterography that the radiologist said was near perfect. My question is two-fold; Is one test for celiac more reliable than the ot...

So Far So Good on Entocort

Well, I've been on Entocort for five days now and have seen about 80% success in the relief of symptoms. My gut has calmed way down and my pants fit again as the inflammation is subsiding. I'm only having three or four episodes of D first thing in the morning, then I'm free for the rest of the day a...

I'm still a little overwhelmed with the dx but refuse to rest on my laurels. I'm looking for a good acupunturist in Austin to add to the treatment plan which shouldn't be too hard to find. I do have a question. Besides the obvious meaning, what do ya'll mean when you talk about "giving the gut ...

Thanks. Doc prescribed cholestyramine last week and it did reduce the number of episodes slightly, but did nothing for consistency. He said to cut it in favor of the Entocort. He said I should start seeing results in about a week and if not, to call him. The plan is to keep me on Entocort once a day...

Newly Diagnosed-Double Edged Sword

I was just diagnosed this afternoon with MC; CC specifically. I'm none too happy about it, though it is a relief to finally know what's going on. I guess I had a good GI doc as it took less than 60 days from the onset of acute D (10-15 times a day) to figure out it was MC. He's prescribed Entocort w...
