Well, darn. Please keep us all posted when you're ready to share it. I went shopping today and bought a bunch of gluten-free stuff for him to try. Mostly snack type food. Considering the recent antibiotics, I think another couple of weeks with the probiotic and GF food should let us know if he'll se...

Leslie,
The way your PCP is treating you is totally unacceptable. If it were me, I'd be finding another doctor. From experience, I know that's not easy. Also, remember that the doctor works FOR YOU. She is YOUR employee, you pay her salary.

My best to you.

That looks really interesting but way out of our budget for snack food. Tex, if you'd like to send me some to try, I'll glady send you my snail mail address privately and pay for postage. In the meantime, I'm going to check a local store that sells organic bulk stuff and vegan foods. BTW, I've final...

Popcorn?

Jerry asked me tonight what I thought popcorn would do to him. My reply was "probably kill you". But then I thought, air popped is probably OK but what about the stuff in the microwave butter flavor ones? The brand we have at home is Clancy's which is sold at ALDI. The ingredients label di...

Some stores carry Goya coconut milk in the section with cocktail mixes. I guess they figure the only reason people use it is to make Pina Coladas.

jta Hi. I'm also trying to help my husband and he started a GF diet last week. He's been DF and SF a bit longer. I've been contemplating buying the GF bread and was wondering if they were any good. When spending $4+ for a very small loaf of bread, I sure want something that tastes good. Today I dis...

He was not a happy camper last night so is back to GF today. He had started taking Culturelle last week. Should he be taking it while on the Augmentin? Oh, and no doubt about needing the antibiotic because cellulitis MUST be treated. One good thing, in the hospital, he told them that he was allergic...

Bottom Fell Out (Literally)

I've got to vent. My husband, Jerry, stopped taking the Entocort as it seemed like he was having more problems with it then without. He had already eliminated dairy and soy and agreed to try gluten-free and was starting to get results. UNTIL..... he got cellulitis and ended up in the hospital Tuesda...

I bought hemp milk last week. Interesting taste. Yes, you would spread it on toast or crackers. It's been quite awhile since I've had it so can't really describe the taste but it is "different". I meant to see if they had any today when I was at Whole Foods but the store was so crowded, I ...

No, he's not taking a PPI.

Nope, not a word about drug interaction or the efects of the drug on somebody with diabetes. Since Jerry hasn't been eating much he's not been taking the metformin and glyburide much because his blood sugar has been going too low. It's a vicious cycle.

Tex, I can't answer about PPI as I don't know what that is. The only other thing he's taking right now is Culturelle, metformin and glyburide and the last two not often. OH! When the doctor recently put him back on Flagyl, he had the same type of reaction - a burning/weird feeling in what he says is...

According the colonoscopy he does have some internal hemorrhoids. I've sent an email to our endocrinologist asking if he could recommend a good GI. Jerry is wondering about a holistic practitioner but I doubt that would be covered by Medicare. Good news, he has agreed to a gluten free diet after my ...

Hemp Nut Butter

Has anybody tried hemp nut butter, aka hemp seed butter? Hubbin likes the taste but we're wondering who it would work with his LC.

Thanks

As I said, the blood isn't much and has been there on and off for awhile. We've been thinking it's from hemorrhoid irritation. The doctor (or his nurse on most calls) has been made aware and the pat answer is to bring in a stool sample. According to Jerry's primary doctor, this guy is the best but t...
