Mast Cell Issues

Hello everyone! It has been a while since I've been on this forum, but I was drawn back by a member who PM'd me and was reminded what a wealth of information you all are! A quick recap: I have Celiac (dx'd 2009) and Lupus (dx'd 2014) but I never got better after going gluten free. Multiple doctors w...

Thanks Tex, now I see why all of my GI docs are so resistant to the diagnosis!y enterolab testing also told me I have the Celiac gene and some genes for gluten intolerance. Also, since a repeated endoscopy 1.5 years after my diagnosis showed my duodenum was healed, I would think this means I was doi...

Thanks for the replies! I am definitely not taking the Lotronex now! As for the celiac, the problem was that my serologies were positive but I didn't have villous damage- just inflammation in the duodenum and increased intraepithelial lymphocytes. The doctor at the time ruled this to be early stage ...

Update from doctor's appointment today

Hi All, I posted recently about my pillcam results and went to the gastroenterologist today for a second opinion on them and guess what? This gastroenterologist also said it was IBS, and that my original diagnosis of Celiac was wrong. He gave me a probiotic, VSL 3, and a prescription for Levsin and ...

Thank you everyone! I do feel like food intolerances may still be the root cause, I just don't know where to start because I've tried so many different diets! Maybe the new enterolab panel or a nutritionist could be a good place to start. What about MRT testing? Does anyone know if nutritionists can...

Thank you for the responses everyone! I have been doing this for about 5 years now and I've gotten pretty good with my test results, but this one was way out of my league! I had an endoscopy/colonoscopy 2 years ago but the only inflammation found was in my esophagus/stomach/small intestine I believe...

Help with Pillcam Results

Hi Everybody, It has been a long time since I have posted on here! I gave up on trying to start feeling better for a few years, but I'm now back at trying to find the cause. I still don't know if I have microscopic colitis or not but this has been by far one of the most helpful forums I've found and...

That's great news! I am taking Vitamin D as well, yesterday was my first day not taking the Dexilant and I didn't wake up with reflux this morning for the first day in about a week so I'm feeling hopeful! I have to avoid a lot of foods for interstitial cystitis, I think mostly because they are acidi...

Thanks for the advice Tex, I saw when I bought the B12 that they had cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin and wasn't sure of the difference, but I knew my shots were cyanocobalamin so I went with it. Unfortunately my doctor is pretty much useless, he just keeps trying to prescribe me higher doses (he ...

Weaning off PPIs and taking a new B12 Supplement

So I've decided to start weaning off the PPIs, I'm taking them every other day. I've been wanting to do this for a while but how awful I have been feeling in combination with my the discussion my virology professor gave on immunity and the importance of stomach acid today finally pushed me to do it....

There's some great information here! I am definitely going to try out the antihistamines for nausea, I had no idea they had that effect. I am currently on day 11 of a flare, I was hoping it would go away on its own but apparently it has no intention of doing so so I've dropped down to eating only ch...

Of course, my doctor never bothered to explain any of the results from the endoscopy to me, he just had the PA call me, so I'm not even sure that the ulceration is something to worry about. :???:

Yes I'm hoping the new doctor will cooperate with me and help me wean off of them. The bad acid reflux didn't begin until my doctor had me do a three week gluten challenge (and I stupidly followed his orders), so thinking that the gluten must have caused some damage but hopefully it will heal soon s...
