I agree with Tex. Soli, with all the time we MC folks spend on the toilet, you could have read War and Peace. Chapter 9 would have been a breeze, if you had bothered.

Hi Monique,

I hear your honesty, and appreciate your determination to move forward with grace and acceptance. I hope one day you will reach that oasis of remission.

Optimist or pessimist, you give others an honest account of the possibilities of life with MC.

Lesley, I am glad you are getting the medicine. I know several people that took it, and it helped tremendously, although it is important to get it early in the breakout. I would also consider the vaccine once you are healed as it could prevent future episodes. After 2 close friends and my dad had sh...

Sorry you had a bad reaction. Rice typically is OK for most people, but 3-4 cups would constipate a buffalo. You could try 1/4 cup one day, and see how it goes. If it goes well try again the next day. Sweet potato is acceptable for many, as are red or yellow potatoes. When trying something new, it i...

Monique, I went back up to 2 a day, because I needed to take an antibiotic. I also may have been accidentally glutened while traveling. Things are away from normal, but I hope that it will be short lived. I upped my nightly benedryl to 50mgs. I am sleeping really well!! Usually I read myself to slee...

Hi Janet,

I think you would need an official diagnosis, if you were to apply for disability benefits. I hope you can get everything under control with just diet. I would like to do that too, but it is a work in progress.

Augmentin is what started my LC. I needed it for a sinus infection a year ago. I am now taking the z-pak for bronchitis, and having problems too. I think we just have to ride it out. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Nancy,

Your doctor does sound like a very strange character. Maybe he needs to see your psychiatrist!!

And it's back

Hello, I was doing so well, and then several things happened at once. I had been coughing for over a month and trying to get rid of it without antibiotics. I finally had to give in, and after much conversation with my doctor, we agreed on the Z-pak. I upped my Lialda back to 2 pills a day, incase th...

Hi DJ, Lialda is an anti-inflammatory, specifically designed to activate in the colon. The coating is the key, so there is no way to divide a single tablet. The normal dosage is 2 to 4 tablets...and I seem to be successful at 1, but not quite normal. I am looking for input, regarding time frames for...

Weaning off Lialda. (Mesalamine)

Hello, 2 weeks ago I cut my dosage of lialda from 2 pills a day to 1 a day. I am holding my own, and so far it seems to be fine. When I tapered off entocort...9 days later, my symptoms came back. I had too many side effects to go back on, unless nothing else would help. The Lialda has been great, an...

I noticed your diet does not include carbohydrates. You might want to consider rice or potatoes, to round out your meals while you are in the healing phase. I would add one, and see how you react.
