Interestingly, Cassy Joy over at Fed + Fit recently posted a dairy-free Bailey's recipe.

Diane Sanfilippo has a nice guide to cooking fats on her site too. She explains the different types of fats/oils and why they might or might not be great to use.

I regularly listen to the Paleo View podcast (w/ Sarah Ballantyne from thepaleomom.com and Stacy Toth), and I realized pretty quickly after clicking on the link that they just talked about this. Just another science-based perspective on it. https://www.thepaleomom.com/paleo-podcast-lectins-o...

You might try searching the internet for AIP recipes. AIP is the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol, and it excludes all of those things (and a few more) in its initial elimination phase.

Marcia, nut butters can be easily made if you have a high-powered blender (like a Vitamix) I've read it's possible with a food processor too but it takes more time. http://amyshealthybaking.com/blog/2015/07/28/easy-blender-cashew-butter/ Yep! I have an inexpensive Ninja Pulse (more of a food proces...

Welcome! It sounds like you've taken some great first steps! It's definitely intimidating to think about eliminating foods. I remember thinking, "If I can't have this, this and this, what will I eat?!" It really does get easier over time as you adjust mentally and get into new routines. :s...

Interpreting Your Genetics Summit (Aug. 21-28, 2017)

I've been seeing this advertised by a couple of bloggers I follow, so I figured I'd pass the information along in case anyone's interested. It's free to watch/listen, although these types of things do always have options to buy the materials if you want to. You can check out the presenters and topic...

I really like using canned coconut milk in my coffee (full-fat, not "light"). I love the creaminess of it! It does usually have guar gum or something in it, but it's often just coconut, water and guar gum (or another "gum") ... generally fewer ingredients than some of the refrige...

That's a great price in order to obtain RAW Data.... ;-) Promethease is a great tool too to read it with too. I really enjoyed my expanded version of 23andMe reports though...it saved me hours of hunting and pecking time learning about my results. True. Did you get yours done before everyth...

I'm still a little leery of the privacy stuff, and the vast amount of data seems overwhelming. But I figured I'd mention it in case anyone's interested. $49 would be pretty cheap for the 23andMe test if you do indeed get all of the raw data. From the Q&A section on the Amazon page ... Qu...

The 23andMe Ancestry version is $49 right now (on Amazon Prime Day). I've seen several responses to questions on Amazon (from 23andMe) saying that regardless of which test you buy, the raw data is the same . In other words, you could get all the raw data from this one and input it at Promethease or ...

I applaud restaurants that ask if you're GF because of an "allergy" or a "preference" -- they want to know how careful they need to be. It's not because they're nosy. They don't want you to get sick either! ;)

I just wanted to chime in as someone who was diagnosed at around the age of 30. It definitely happens! My doc seemed to think it was unlikely, but thankfully he did look for it because everything else seemed to be fine.
