Thank you, everyone for your help. You all are wonderful. I am making an appointment with a gastro today. Imuran and the biologics sound like promising options that we need to explore. That toilet seat, too, is a great tip. The dietary recommendations we got here have been incredibly helpful, and wi...

Complex Case - Almost Died
Hi, everyone. I apologize in advance, as this will be a long post. My questions are below the history. Thank you for your help. My husband was diagnosed with LC in 2014. He also has MS and is wheelchair-bound. He tried many different drugs-- anti-diarrheals, cholestid, different antihistamines, ster...

Hi, unfortunately, he can't tolerate budesonide or most meds due to the corn derivatives used in the tablets or capsules, and fillers. We might try to get it compounded. What a web of confusion corn allergy is! I tried making him bone broth without any onion and poured it over some homemade (from sa...

Stopping a flare-- nothing working
Hi, this is one of those "middle of the night what should I do" posts. My husband has LC that is triggered by corn and all its derivatives. He got into a flare over this holiday season that we have not been able to get a handle on, despite being meticulous with his diet. He just woke up to...

Applesauce
Hi, what are your thoughts on applesauce as being a safe food. My husband has lymphocytic colitis and is severely intolerant to corn and its myriad of derivatives. He may or may not have a fructose assimilation issue as he has reacted to berries and pears-- though both could have been washed and/or ...

Thank you, everyone. This was his worst flare yet and because of your recommendations, it has subsided. He is up and about and doing well. His color has returned and he is eating. The bone broth suggestion was fantastic. I made turkey rice meatballs and almost immediately the rumblings odd lower gut...

Hi, I would not be surprised if it was fructose, too, at this point. I had my suspicions about the applesauce for different reasons. One of the jars (the cinnamon flavor, which he does not eat) had citric acid listed as a preservative. The other jars with plain applesauce only listed apples as an in...

The patch seems to be our best bet now. This flare is the worst one yet. He just had an attack while sleeping on the toilet :( I'm up trying to figure out what could have caused it. It could not have been food (he ate only rice, chicken, potatoes, banana and boiled carrots yesterday). The only likel...

Thank you! He is starting to feel better today, and the color is coming back to his face. He is not thrilled that he is going to have to give up even more foods but he knows there is no choice. I am waiting on the multi vitamin patch that I got from a bariatric supply store. It should resolve the lo...

Thank you, everyone! If it had not been for this group, I don't know what we would have done. We are going to get him some mag, and D (in addition to the multi). Gluten is gone for good! Meds might be tricky. Tex, if you do have the compounding pharmacy name, that would be great. Still have not hear...

I am going to talk to him again about the mag, and then see about a D patch. We've eliminated all processed foods. His diet consists of organic meats, some fish, vegetables when not in flare, applesauce, bananas, quality basmati rice, and potatoes, kerrygold butter, and olive oil, and 1/4 cup sliver...

Hi, he tried several kinds of D3 but reacted to all of them. He bought some magnesium transdermal spray but is afraid to use it (as too much mag causes D). I am praying he uses the multi patches. We read Terry Wahl's book. It's not that helpful for his LC. There is lots of stuff that he reacts to th...

Corn allergy hell
Hi, my husband's lymphocytic colitis is triggered by corn and its derivatives. We're really glad that we have been able to pinpoint the trigger (thank you to this group for educating us on the role of diet in this condition), but it is getting harder and harder to avoid corn. He also has MS, and tak...

Thank you
Thank you so much for your thoughtful advice. My husband is starting on the elimination diet today (and is handling it better than I am), and he's going to get the Enterolab tests this week. Now we feel like we have a direction to go in. We are both very grateful.
