I have hypothyroid. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago. I had symptoms for many years prior to the diagnosis. Its hard to believe now but I was diagnosed by my current GI doc when I saw him for terrible constipation and my family doc was blowing me off.

This was very helpful. I have maintained remission on Asacol before. I actually weaned off asacol but had a relapse after about 3 months. It seems what has happened is that the Asacol has not put me in remission so he tried a round of prednisone and now this. So it sounds like I have a good shot of ...

Long Term Entocort?

I am wondering, now that I am starting to see some results from the Entocort in combination with Asacol, how long can I take it? It looks like most people see thier symptoms return when they stop Entocort. It this true? Is anyone on it long term?

Thanks for the responses! I am at work this morning. I am hoping to get through my days here as best I can. I feel better knowing that it may take some time for the Entocort to work. I had such a quick response to Prednisone that i was hoping for the same with this medication. The difficulty with fr...

Entocort Questions

Hi there! I need you guys again - sorry to show up only when I need help. So after I tapered off Prednisone I resumed my symptoms in about 1 week. I too was soooo in denial and it took until the symptoms became undeniable last week before I called my GI. So on friday I started Entocort. I take 3 in ...

Hi Sunny, I just read your post and wanted to tell you that I hope you are feeling better. You have had such a rough time. I agree with the others that we have all felt very hopeless over this thing we live with. Keep talking about it and remember you are very worthy of the care and suppport you nee...

I have been a runner for about 18 years and at times trained for long distances. Unfortunatly, this endorphine producing exercise didn't seem to stop me from getting colitis. But I have to say, when I am able to run I feel so much better. I wish I could connect it to preventing a flare up but I see ...

Hi Erin, I was just thinking of you. I am still doing great on the taper. I go to 5 mg tomorrow for three days and then I am off of it. I suspect my doctor anticipates I'll need it again at some point because he prescribed a nice big supply of it. I wouldn't hesitate to take it again. I am so glad t...

I'm happy to hear you are doing well. I am still hanging in there with the taper. Its great that they got both your scans the same day and so quickly. You'll have this behind you soon.

Paging ErinD

Hi Erin,

Just wondering how you are feeling. I am down to 15 mg of prednisone and seem to be fine so far. I was just thinking about you and I hope you are ok. When do you have the scans scheduled?

Hi Erin, Well, we have a lot in common. I have had similar Gyn issues. I am sorry you are having to deal with that along with the pred. taper. I have found it difficult at times to distinguish which type of gut pain I was having bc it is all in the same area. So far so good for me on the decreasing ...
