Another option to avoid high fructose corn syrup is to buy kosher certified soda (real sugar) which is often available this time of the year as Passover approaches. I'm not much of a soda drinker, except for the occasional ginger ale, but I have friends that stock up on kosher soda when it's availab...

Cristina, best of luck to you on your journey - it is well worth it! I'm sure that you've read this many times on this forum, but the Enterolab testing is very helpful. After slowly weaning myself off of budesonide and following a strict diet for a year, I did the testing. Some results were surprisi...

time to branch out in the veggie realm

I have been eating well cooked veggies in limited variety since August, 2014. These include: carrots, summer and winter squash, green beans, sweet potatoes, broccoli, potatoes, cauliflower, and occasionally asparagus, tomatoes, and brussels sprouts. I would love to try some greens such as spinach, k...

don't miss sweets - miss savory!

So, a year and a half into a strict diet I find that I don't so much miss sweets or high carb items as I miss savories (cheese especially!!). Has anyone found some interesting items to satisfy this niche? Three in the afternoon is a difficult period every day. Pate is a bit expensive for my budget, ...

Well, I would have to say that mine probably came from multiple reasons. 1. Most of my jobs for 25 years were high stress. A few years before diagnosis I went through several months of extreme family stress. 2. My connective tissue disease wasn't diagnosed until recently but was certainly affecting ...

Well, shoot. So the Cologard test is out for me. You're right, Tex - figures it would exclude a large % of the population that needs to get screened!

I will inquire about the virtual colonoscopy the next time I see the doc.

Here is a pretty good synopsis of colon cancer detection methods. http://www.cancer.gov/types/colorectal/screening-fact-sheet It looks like there are some decent alternatives to colonoscopy, which is good to know. Since it has only been 4 yrs. since my last one, I think I'm good to go for a while lo...

Tex, given my family history, should I be worried about a ten year interval between scopes?

You've been monitoring this forum for many years, do you notice that colonoscopy problems are common?

How could it possibly be good for our intestines to be torn up and bleeding from these procedures! It seems to fly in the face of all the slow and careful healing that we are trying to accomplish...

intestines too fragile for colonoscopy!

Yikes! I saw my new GI doctor today and we went over all my medical records. I am 65 and have had 4 colonoscopies since my 40"s (mom died of colon cancer - age 45). I showed him the pics from my former doctor indicating a tear in the intestinal wall. And then told him how painful colonoscopies ...

I wonder how much coconut oil one should consume? I like the virgin, full flavored version because I love the flavor of coconut!
I eat rice everyday that I cook with coconut oil and then chill for 8 hours. It changes the starch to "resistant" starch and I find it easier to digest.

Tex, I think it's hard for any of us to chew nuts enough to get them the consistency of nut butter and those chunks can either "go right through" or hurt like hell on the journey. Thanks God for all the cool nut butters out there right now. Also, a lot of store-bought whole nuts are proces...

I agree that eating out is an occasional treat and sometimes a necessity when on trips. I have an index card-sized card that I give to the servers to show the cooks. On one side it says what I can eat (and that list is, thankfully, longer these days) and the other side says what I must strictly avoi...

strontium - which? and proper balance

So, now I'm confused about strontium. The literature says to make sure to be getting sufficient calcium before taking this, but I only take 300-400mg. calcium/day (Doctor's Best calcium bone maker) - not the recommended dose. I also take 400mg. magnesium. Then there's the question of which strontium...

Thanks, Tex, can you direct me to where bisphosphonates are listed as a probable cause of MC? I want to share that with my friend. Everything I am reading on the drugs goes along with what you're saying about the dead bone tissue. Why, indeed, would we want to initiate that vicious cycle? Gabes, as ...
