Thanks everyone. I'm doing the stool tests for her, to check for c. diff, and all the others. She also took a bunch of blood to check everything else out. I refused to go back to the GI doc, and thankfully my GP is on top of things, and understanding. Starting the Entocort today, because sometimes I...

Ugh Another Flare ...

Seems like a lot of us are flaring right now, wonder if the seasonal change has much to do with it? Tex, so glad to hear that you were able to get yourself taken care of - please take the time to rest up well before beginning work again! I continuously amazed with the positive outlook you seem to ha...

Hello Andi,

I prefer lomotil to immodium - it works with no ill effects. immodium stops me up for days, which can be just as bad as the big D. I think it's truly the least offensive of all the meds. Good luck!

saMe supplement and entocort (or prednisone)?

Hi everyone- Has anyone had any experience taking the SaMe supplement and entocort/prednisone? I just read that St. John's wort is counter indicated when on any of the cortocosteroids - and I started taking SaMe today for mild depression... I know I can call my doc and find out, but thought I would ...

He told me to go back to the PCP because, and I quote: "pain is not a symptom of microscopic colitis." Gee... here I was thinking he's a GI doc, so stomach pain qualifies as his specialty. Ha. Besides that, Entocort is working wonders most days, and the diet is going smoothly. The hubby ge...

Yes, I also experience pain - most recently, under the left side of my ribcage. The doctor's deny that is a symptom of our disease, but from everyone's responses, I think it is.

I hope you are able to find some relief soon.

Well, a week later, and an update. The Entocort has worked wonders! The D is gone, for the most part. The diet has been much easier than I thought it would be. I almost slipped up today with some cupcakes, but I resisted the urge. I feel so much healthier eating this way. The pain is still there, th...

Welcome to the board Ann. Yes, fatigue plays a large role in my diagnosis. I have been able to get the flares under control with Entocort in the past - which also helped ease the fatigue. Now, I am trying out the GF diet, along with Entocort to see if it helps to ease the symptoms. I hope you are ab...

So an update - I have lost 10lbs in two weeks. The GI doc is very concerned about the pain I'm having on my left side. He pressed down on my upper left abdomen, and it brought tears to my eyes. I have also been nauseous, with alternating fever and chills. I have a script for Entocort, but if within ...

You are all so wonderful! I love being able to come here and get truly great advice, and understanding. Thank you so much. Now, about going GF - my husband is game, and we are starting this week, tomorrow actually. My question is - cooking utensils, pans, and the like - do I have to give everything ...

Thanks all for the info. I realized as I read through this thread, that we do eat mostly gluten free - it's just lunches that will have to be modified. I have been making us both salads the past week, and we both are enjoying it much better than the standard sandwich. Our dinners usually consist of ...

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm going to go to the library today, if time allows, to pick up some of these books. I'm interested in the Paleo diet, and the GF cookbooks. Thanks so much!

I love reading this site, and the wealth of info it holds, but sometimes I need a good book to curl up in bed with.

I have reserved the book through the local library. I will hopefully have it soon.

I will also check out the book you mentioned Rose. Thanks both of you!

Any Book Suggestions for GF?

Hi all, I'm going to go gluten free. Circumstances have put me in the position where it is the only option. I am looking forward to getting my CC under control without the help of big pharma. Have those of you who are GF read any good books you could recommend for the diet? Or just the major lifesty...
