What about replenishing glycogen stores? Common practice is to eat small amounts of high sugar/high carb during longer workouts.

Maybe banana or sweet potato in a plastic bag. Anything would need to be easy to fit in a belt.

For whatever reason it looks like my original post is blank. I was asking about fueling for endurance sports for someone who is "mostly" in remission. So far I have been using Jelly Belly Sport Beans http://www.sportbeans.com/products/berry_sport_beans.aspx I'm wondering if there are any r...

Can someone take a look at this food label?

I'm luckily still in a sort of remission and working on new fitness goals. I say "sort of remission" because I still get set off by the wrong foods and then will have symptoms for a few days while I recover. So not perfect, but better than I every thought I would be. The plan is to run the...

YES!!!! For Halloween we ate out and then did a haunted tour thingy. The bar was serving alcoholic drinks out of pumpkins and I had a white wine. It seemed odd to me to serve a drink like that and it was warm like it had been sitting in the pumpkin for a while. I started to feel off during the tour ...

I thought I would post an update for anyone who was following this thread. The race was this past Sunday and I didn't do as well as I had hoped. It was raining and I managed to slip and roll my ankle. Finished in 2:16 even with walking for the last 2 miles so not too bad. That should be good enough ...

Good luck Chemgirl! This thread has helped to explain some issues I've had with running races and getting flares. I did my first triathlon (a baby one - just 1/16th of an Ironman) last month and I really enjoyed it. I've learned over the last year that works for me is to not eat before an event if ...

Just wanted to post an update. The race is next week and I am totally excited/nervous. I dropped down to the half marathon and I'm not running it with a personal best in mind. Since adding some serious mileage to my weekly routine my urgency issues have appeared to resolve. I can run a constant 2-3 ...

I'm fine with Sodastream water without any of the syrups. If I want it to taste a little different I will muddle some mint leaves and fruit in the bottom of a glass and then add the soda water.

Trial and error really.

I get this if I'm wearing shoes that crunch my toes. The husband has a fungus that looks a bit like that. If you are playing sports there could be pressure causing the nail to lift.

It could be lots of things...

I find exercise helped a lot. In the beginning I just stuck to yoga and some cycling (indoors when I was worried about bathroom trips). Eventually I added in some resistance training and now I run. I think it's ok to push yourself a bit. I find exercise to be a fabulous way to work out the stresses ...

Started a batch using shaved carrots and quinoa for the mash rather than grains. In theory this will give me enough sugar for primary fermentation and then flavor will be imparted from the hops. I'm going to dry hop as well so hopefully the floral notes make up for the lack of malt. Will let you kno...

Thanks Gabes, I will have to look into that.

Last night I decided to try and run/walk to get my miles in. So I ran a bit faster than normal for 10 minutes, walked one, continue. That seemed to help and no D. My overall time wasn't much lower than normal so yey.

You are welcome Chemgirl! I obviously wasn't telling you anything new! You gotta admit, it would be pretty awesome to have someone on the forum who has ran Boston..... I sincerely doubt I would ever get to Boston. My sister is big on running and had a qualifying time once, then pregnant so she neve...

Thanks for the practical input Vanessa! A normal week for me has 3 days of resistance training and 3 runs, usually around 4 miles each, and finally hot yoga to round it all off. Have been doing that for the past year. So I get what you're saying about the benefit of shorter runs. I got in my head th...
