Vit D deficiency

Thanks Tex. I am going to give that a try. My latest blood work showed my VitaminD level was 17 ng and my doctor recommended taking calcium with Vit D. After reading some of your book on Vit D, I realized I really need to step up my Vit D intake. I live in AZ so you would think I get a lot from sun....

Calcium supplements bloating and constipation

Having terrible bloating and constipation and I think it is from my calcium supplement - my doc recommended it due to low Vit D and osteopenia. Anyone else struggle with that? Maybe I just need vitamin D - what is recommended amount?

When I was first diagnosed with MC I had terrible bouts of D but now I have terrible bloating often with constipation. My vitamin D level is low and I have osteopenia so doc recommended taking calcium supplements. I am taking calcium supplements with vit D but I think the tablets are causing painful...

Both collagenous and lympocytic

I had another colonoscopy in Feb and it took 6 months to meet with doctor to go over results. I was diagnosed with LC 5 years ago and now have both CC and LC. Was not having problems with diarrhea but bloating and some constipation. Doctor put me on budesonide extended relief 9 mg and told me to go ...

Magnesium

Tex, I've been taking 500 mg of magnesium and spraying magnesium oil on at night. Sleeping better and not running to bathroom 3 times a night. I have reduced then entocort to 6 mg from 9 as well. The oil stings a little but I also add an oil to it. Thanks so much.

Magnesium

The magnesium I have is "Nature's Life", it has magnesium and vit B6. One capsule has 500 mg magnesium (magnesium oxide, citrate, malate) and 5 mg bit B6. I have this in the house so I'll try this. I read all the fine print and didn't see anything about "Elemental." I might soak ...

Magnesium

You mentioned taking it after meals, what is the recommended dosage? This just started happening after I started back on the Uceris - didn't notice it when I was off medication. I'm starting on magnesium today - after I take a nap! Thanks again Tex.

Uceris side effects

I've been on Uceris now for three weeks now and I'm having a horrible time trying to sleep at night, and I'm up having to urinate 2-3 times a night. Driving me crazy - I'm exhausted! I'm due to start weaning off Uceris with 6 mg of entocort for 2 weeks and then 3 mg for two more weeks. I'm supposed ...

Moses in Bullrushes

This was the first thing I read this morning and I have to say it was pretty funny. I'm sure it was not funny what you went through but at least you have a sense of humor! Only people suffering with this awful colitis can relate. Hang in there!

Pepto

Wow Vanessa that was scary. While on the Pepto, I had such severe diarrhea and cramping. My lower back and hips really hurt. I read that if you suspect a histamine intolerance that you should avoid salicylate. The antihistimes did provide relief but I also realize that diet is a huge part of the rel...

Antihistamines

Tex, I went back to your book and read and reread chapter 14 on mast cells, and I read some of the posts that talked about taking antihistamines. Your book is fascinating and interesting - you are a very smart man. So I had given up on Pepto - I think it made the D worse. I was ready to give in to t...

Pepto bismal

I'm on my tenth day of Pepto Bismal and sadly I haven't had any improvement. My question to those of you that have tried Pepto is, should I give it more time? I was so hoping this would help. I've also read on some posts that some have had luck on antihistamines. Is it worth trying. I'm really tryin...

Vit D

Before I developed LC, I was diagnosed as being deficient in Vit D and my doctor gave me a prescription. Looking back on this I'm wondering if that led me to LC. I'm taking about 1000 iu a day but it looks like I need to increase it.

Funny how we learn bits and pieces about how to take care of ourselves with MC. When my doctor recommended the pepto trial he never mentioned going gluten free as well (but he never believed that anyway). I'll post how well it goes.

Thank Tex - didn't pay attention to the dates. Anyway, I'll give it a try.
