BRAT diet

My experience has shown that the BRAT diet isn't a good long term helper. I do the BRAT for a couple of days, but after that, I get some low residue protein: chicken or fish, and have a generally soft diet. I'm taking DELZICOL morning and night, and that helps calm the lining of the gut as well.

Tex,

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll call the office tomorrow and see what happens. Just now getting clear of a flare of lymphocytic, and I certainly don't intend to take anything that will put me back into another one.

Still getting used to your site and how to respond and so forth.

Zizzle

Thank you so much. Michigan has Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, and they are our GO TO stores. We also have a fabulous local store called Arbor Farms. So your suggestions are very helpful.

Joefnh Is that a WINE glass you are holding in your profile picture? Can you tolerate alcohol? I'd appreciate any suggestions about varieties and brands that you might have. Right now, In the midst of a flare of lymphocytic colitis, I'm not drinking anything but chamomile and lime/ginger tea. care314

I must take amoxicillin before dental work because I have a hip replacement and rods and screws in my back and atrial flutter. I'm due for routine teeth cleaning. Do you have any suggestions that I could make to my dentist as to an alternative to the amoxicillin?

Carol Ann,

Could it have been that the mocha had enough caffeine to set you off? Or perhaps the combination of sugar and caffeine?

Vanessa,

Good for you. Anxiety and stress are always lurking. The trip itself could cause more stress than you need. Making the decision to "do what you know" seems a good one. I, too, think I have to learn everything there is to know. and it's not going to happen, for me at least.

Vanessa, You are paying the doctors that you will see at Mayo for information, do not be intimidated. They are obligated to do their best by you. If you feel that the information is not relevant and useful, consider it a learning experience, and click it off your list. I learn something from every m...
