Karen, Yes, 1 salad could have done that, but there are other possibilities. Millet flour is sometimes cross-contaminated with gluten. And some of us have problems with other gluten-free breads because of various combinations of ingredients. Tapioca flour, for example is a problem for some of us. T...

I have been having trouble since I ate that salad, it is like the mush stools are back with a vengeance and I'm baffled by that. Gluten free, eating most meals at home and when eating out it is typically meat and rice, no spice, or meat and corn tortilla's. I'm getting discouraged. I fought hard for...

Is salad a no-no?

I've been on entocort now for a couple weeks, gluten free for a month and the difference is amazing. Even on the entocort I find that if I eat a little salad, forget about it, I'm up all night with sludge stools that have unprocessed lettuces in it. (TMI, but there you have it.) I LOVE salad, in fac...

Wow...that's an insane amount of time! Can't believe no one caught it sooner- yikes. Teaching hospitals are hands down the best places to go for medical answers, in my opinion (I speak from experience). They really care about what going on and will actually take the time to figure things out. Glad ...

Here is my tried and true migraine relief (I also get barometer headaches and this works for those as well.) 1. Run a warm bath 2. Take a large mug of very hot water (I heat it in the microwave, but be careful if doing this for any bubble up) and put 5 drops of peppermint essential oils in it. 3. Pl...

On the topic of Cholestramine I took it years ago and it really bloated me. It was a version you mixed in water. Is this a typical reaction?

I was deemed IBS-D from age 25 - age 56! I had many colonoscopies, sigmoids, barium enemas, barium swallows and gut studies all along the way, but no diagnosis. Last year I ended up in the hospital for a week with severe dehydration from ... constant water diarrhea and still after all the tests they...

Hi Karen, Maybe your doctor should describe your illness in a way the insurance company understands..... Inflammatory bowel disease? Or, another term he/she feels the insurance company will understand. This is disturbing. DJ, thank you for the thoughtful reply, I truly appreciate it. We went the in...

Hmmm. One would think that the pharmacy at least, and probably your docs (if they were writing letters or filing forms on your behalf), would have been notified. I'm guessing that your pharmacy may have dropped the ball, but maybe they didn't have your email address. It does seem strange that commu...

Interesting read. I had Epstein Barr back in my 20's when this all first started! They kept calling it "Atypical Mononucleosis" until someone AGAIN decided to look further and found the Epstein Barr. I went from that into pleurisy and pericardial infection (it was quite a ride). Now I have...

I've had 4 rhizotomies which are out patient procedures for my facet issues and pinched nerves. I recommend it highly. The procedure is easy and lasts (for me) about 2 years.

I can't address the colonoscopy after diagnosis issue, I'm 56 and have had over 15 colonoscopies and finally someone decided not to just look but biopsy. Thank God.

Because I've had so many I asked my Gut Gal (GI DOC) how often I need to go now and she said every 5 years.
