FOOD CHOICES & TASTE TOPICS
I am into six months with the MC/LC problem - so it's early in the business of researching food choices. A few questions follow, and then some information that might help others. Does anyone have comments on the following? • Dairy products: Tex is right about the lactose & lactate tablets - at l...

THANKS FOR IDEAS RE: TASTE & FLAVOR
Thanks for your helpful feedback re: flavors and taste in bland foods. I have enough replies to help generate some strategies, although every person is different. My own problem started back in early May. I got prescriptions, but very little dietary help from my GI MD at that time, or from several P...

TASTE & FLAVOR: IS EVERYTHING BLAND AND TASTELESS?
I'm in the early stage of trying to sort of foods that are OK or not OK, for my lymphocytic colitis. I'm going gluten free until I can get a better set of diet choices. Also lactose [dairy] free. I don't yet know whether I have a problem with soy. Because the choice restrictions at present, almost e...

WHITE RICE
Tex ….. This is an internal family communication problem. Martha is convinced that I NEED to eat the white rice a couple of times daily, every day, forever ? Personally I think it's simply a very good component to include with other workable food items. Carl

STEAMED RICE
I'm in the early stages of trying to work up a functional basic diet to deal with lymphocytic colitis. This effort is in its second week - so it's very early. WHITE RICE, cooked up in chicken broth. My GI MD recommended this - small servings - as a snack during the day - maybe with a meal. My wife i...

PPI PROBLEMS
Tex - Thanks for the feedback. I have an Oct. 6 appointment with my GI MD, and an Oct. 12 with my general family doctor. With or without their approval, I may simply taper down rapidly with the omeprzole. It could well be that the bland diet I'm trying to develop for the LC problem will also be able...

PRILOSEC v. NEXIUM QUERY EARLIER TODAY
I have been doing some detailed online research, and have found the following. From the Nexium website: “NEXIUM may increase your risk of getting severe diarrhea. Call your doctor right away if you have watery stool, stomach pain and fever that does not go away.” Similar comments for the generic ver...

PRILOSEC or OMEPRAZOLE
I have been on OMEPRAZOLE, 40 mg/day, for more than six years. This is for control of Barrett's Esophagus. It's the generic for PRILOSEC. But a number of posts on this forum indicate that OMEPRAZOLE/PRILOSEC may exacerbate lymphocytic colitis. …….. Recently the FDA approved a generic version of NEXI...

COSTS FOR PRIMARY LYMPHOCYTIC COLITIS MEDICATIONS
I was diagnosed toward the end of May with lymphocytic colitis. My GI MD promptly put me on two commonly used medicines: Budenoside, aka Entocort - - As the primary “hammer” to get the WD under control, and …. Lialda – {mesalamine} , aka Apriso, Asacol, Delzical or Pentasa - - this as a sort of base...

FIBER & LYMPHOCYTIC COLITIS
Thanks to all the kind responders about fiber. I'm just starting to learn, and your comments have been a great help. …. I will move over to some other topics now - - diet more generally - - the primary meds, and the unusually high costs of the primary meds. Have a good week end.

LYMPHOCYTIC COLITIS
Thanks to everyone for your responses to my initial query about fibre. I'm VERY new to all this, and just barely getting started on the diet diagnostics. I was diagnosed in mid-May this year. My GI MD is very competent technically and a good person to work with. But, I now recognize that he is tilte...

DIETARY FIBRE AND ROUGHAGE FOR LYMPHOCYTIC COLITIS
Recently I was diagnosed with LYMPHOCYTIC COLITIS. I am trying to learn something about DIET. Specifically, should i try to increase the amount of dietary fibre and roughage. Or, should I do the opposite. The web sites I have checked are contradictory. Their instructions are opposite to each other. ...
