Re: Cured for over 3 years. My experience with CC.

Hello All, It’s been 4 years since I created this post and I have a couple of key updates to share. Collagenous Colitis: I had a relapse in 2021 that lasted 4 months, from Aug through Nov. I am not sure what precipitated it, but it was a very stubborn, full-symptom relapse. I tried to eliminate ever...

Hi Ingrid, Some additional mouth-watering suggestions to consider include: * Roasted chicken with crispy skin (gotta have the skin!) * Ribeye steak finished for a couple of minutes right under the broiler flame to get the fat to sizzle. So good. * Burgers with strips of bacon (uncured) on lettuce. M...

Hi Ingrid, I have a couple of thoughts to share. Regarding diet, 2000 calories is respectable, but in light of your weight I'd suggest getting it up to 3,000. If you can tolerate ice cream or chocolate without having flareups, it does make it easy to pack on the calories. Also almonds and macadamias...

Hello Ingrid - I have some questions to better understand your situation.
* How many meals do you eat each day?
* How many calories do you eat each day?
* How many grams of fat, protein, and fat do you eat each day?

The only thing I would add to what's already been said is to make sure you are not just GF (grain free) but LF (lectin free). The lectins in grains which cause GI issues are also present in other plant foods like legumes (peanuts, beans, etc.), nightshades, many fruits, and seeds. The easiest way to...

Hi Karen, Regarding your excellent point about the casein content in butter, it's almost entirely fat and typically doesn't affect people with casein sensitivity from what I've read. I did some research on Kerrygold butter which is grass fed, but it is from Holstein cows that produce the A1 form of ...

Hello Sorphal, I have several suggestions for you. 1. Eliminate rice, cereal, and zucchini - Your tests shows reaction to grains. Even a little bit can be causing the inflammation to persist. Regarding zucchini, the skin and seeds contain lectins which could be inflammatory to the GI tract. 2. Elimi...

Hi Bubba - Oats are a grain and almost all grains contain lectins. Lectins are proteins used by plants as a deterrent for predators. It’s their defense. This is explained thoroughly in The Plant Paradox which I can’t recommend enough. The author has a website in which he provides a great list of foo...

Hi Bubba - If your progress stalls, I would strongly suggest eliminating seeds, grains, and other high-lectin plant foods. I saw that you eat sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and I believe sunflower seeds caused my CC, as I describe in my post on 7/28. Good luck!
