Thank you - I am just seeing this now. She is now 11 and doing very well. She still gets "glutened" every once in a while, but is so good about eating the right things. She has a new baby brother (he actually turns 1 this week) and he has a milk protein allergy so far. Her six year old sis...

Also, she has tried several anti-histamines (since they thought her nasal congestion was due to seasonal allergies) and they do not help at all. We've tried benadryl, flonase and zyrtec.

Tex, I think I may know what is causing her recent problems. She has been eating a lot of popcorn in the last month (and never really ate it before). I looked up symptoms of corn allergy and it say abdominal pain, frequent headaches, recurring ear infections, sinus infections and nasal congestion/co...

Tex, Thanks for responding. I do wonder if she has other sensitivities, so I will look into the enterolab test. We had to change GI doctors because her Doctor is no longer practicing (she is going into research). The new Dr. is a renowned IBD specialist, so hopefully he will be able to help us as we...

Need advice - Camryn's having problems

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in a while because Camryn has been doing so well. She is 8 years old now (2 1/2 when diagnosed with LC). A GF Diet has kept her symptom free since diagnosis, which the occasional glutening that is hard to avoid with other kids in the house. In the last month she has ha...

Aww, thanks everyone! Yes, she just turned 7! She had a great big birthday party with her friends at a bouncy place. She is doing great. As long as she is GF, she is symptom free. She goes for a yearly checkup with her pediatric GI Dr. and she just had her appointment last week. She is doing great i...

Hi everyone - Kayla's biopsies came back and they were negative. The only diagnosis was Reflux. She still has the fissures, we go back to the Dr. in a couple of weeks. Thanks for your well-wishes!

I'm Having Deja Vu!

Hi everyone - I originally posted here when my daughter was diagnosed with LC at the age of 2. Camryn continues to do awesome on her very strict gluten free diet. She is in 1st grade now and she grows so quickly I never know exactly what size to buy her! Anyhow, I have a 17 month old named Kayla. Ka...

Thanks - yes, I would definitely like to share our success with any other parents of children with microscopic colitis. Zizzle - to answer your question - Camryn did outgrow her dairy and soy protein allergies. She had no allergies from age 1 to 2, but then developed LC at age 2 (and she went gluten...

Hi everyone - it has been a while!

Hi everyone - just wanted to say hello and give an update. Camryn is now 5 1/2 and doing great! She started Kindergarten a few weeks ago. Her teacher wasn't very understanding about the gluten free diet at first calling it a "problem" and "inconvenient", but she seems to be more ...

Thanks everyone - she really is doing well. I agree with everything that you said. I have no doubt that she will be gluten free for life. She now has a little gluten free friend who has Celiac disease. She just turned 5 and they go to each other's birthday parties. The girl's party was in the summer...

Hi everyone, it's been a while - Update on Camryn

Hi everyone - Camryn continues to do very well. She is 4 1/2 now and has just started preschool - she loves it! Her teacher is great about the gluten and they have gluten-free play dough for all the kids (there is another child in the class who has a gluten "allergy" among other allergies)...

Thanks everyone! She turned 4 and had a great birthday. She had a party at Build-A-Bear. I made a gf cake with a Little Mermaid gf edible image. Here is a good tip: I used Betty Crocker GF yellow cake mix and added a small box of strawberry jello mix. It made the cake pink (big plus for a 4 year old...
