Now I worry that ten months of PPI has caused more damage to my stomach. I took steroids in August after this started and I took steroids in February. It hurt me more in February 2016 than in August 2015. The only thing I had been on that whole time was PPI.

There is information in this medical article about PPI causing gastritis but there is no information about time frame for healing.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2266058/

It makes me wonder if I should get another endoscopy.

Today is Day 28 of no PPI. I am feeling better, but not perfect. I had some processed turkey meat and it upset my stomach a little.

I had a perfect stomach before this. I am so worried my stomach will never be perfect again.

Do you think I should give up hope of my stomach being perfect again?

Thanks! I hope so. I will start that soon. I think the PPI really HURT me! As in, I think I am worse off now vs. in October last year. I am so annoyed I was on PPI this whole time. I hope I can heal. I need the steroids.

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to give a quick update in case anyone cared. I am now on Day 9 of no PPI. I just ate a Caesar salad today to see if it would aggravate me and it aggravated me just a little and much worse than while I was on PPI. I am not gluten or dairy free yet, but will start to incorp...

Thanks, Tex.

Sorry, I am confused. Weren't you able to completely reverse the Colitis? Or, maybe the symptoms of colitis?

Prednisone never gave me any problems until it was combined with high dose doxycycline. I am going to keep trying but I am just so devastated that the stomach will probably never be normal or perfect again. It's really hard for me to accept. I feel like it's almost humanly impossible to heal my stom...

Thank you all! I am so grateful everyone here is so eager to help. I feel so lost in this and very uninformed and confused. Just wanted to announce that as of yesterday I am officially OFF the omeprazole (Prilosec). I wondered, if anyone had any opinion on the following: QUESTION #1: Is it okay to t...

Thank you so much for all of your help, everyone. Tex, I sure hope you are right. To be honest, I am so devastated by this. I am not a depressed person at all but this has made me so upset. I am going to get off the omeprazole and alter my diet some more and see what happens. I am so, so, so devasta...

Thank you all. Can't type much now as I am on my phone, but I will try the diet. I need to learn more about it to make sure I do things correctly and not mess up out of ignorance. However, I still do not know what to do about the 40 mg daily omeprazole I take. Should I get off it? I have had GI doct...

Thank you all. Everyone is so helpful and I am so grateful. Just a reminder: I do not have colitis. I have chemical gastropathy in the stomach and another issue with inflammation all over my tissues. I know the prednisone steroid is bad and the stomach does not like it. However, my life is on hold w...

Tex, I have spoken with two GI's in the past 24 hours. Both said after nine months my stomach is not going to heal any further. It's so upsetting. Do you know of anyone else on these boards who was able to recover from gastritis? And, if so, for how long did it take them to recover the stomach? Than...

Thanks, all. Tex, my stomach is "decent" except when I take the steroids. When I take the steroids it seems to be the equivalent of pouring acid on an open wound. No stress relief is going to change that, it's the nature of the beast right now. And, I hope, not forever. Time is going to re...

Thanks, Gabes. I saw that article as it was trending in the news earlier today. I am not a science person and some of it was "over" my head. I just worry it's not humanly possible to recover this stomach. It's been nine months off the antibiotic and steroids and when I take the steroid now...

Thank you so much Tex. I am going to talk to my doctor about the steroid shots. I am just so devastated by this stomach issue because now I cannot take the remaining 10,000 mgs of prednisone steroid for my other issue. It will be the shock of my life if I ever can recover the stomach enough to be ab...
