Hi Carol - you mentioned eating sweet potatoes. I am also doing an elimination diet; sounds a little different from yours, but I bought sweet potato chips and they gave me some GI issues. Also agree that an abrupt change can cause problems...when I started this diet, I felt awful, anxious, foggy, an...

Thanks Gabe and Tex. IFM = Institute for Foundational Medicine. It's so strange to me that all inflammatory GI issues don't respond to the same treatment -- I would think inflammation is inflammation. Ughhh. I noticed there is a post about doctors who treat MC, but there was no one near me. Any othe...

Elimination Diet
Hi, Quick history..Diagnosed with lymphocytic MC 2 years ago. Initially took budesonide and it helped. MC came back and I wanted to try to control it with diet. Got enterolab results and cut out gluten and dairy and it seemed to help for a while. In the last 6-9 months, issues have gotten worse and ...

Thanks Erica! Relieved that your numbers are similar to mine. The gluten one was a little shocking. What's funny is that I used to be such a carb, starch, bread and pasta person and didn't make the connection with gluten until I found this board. I'm totally fine with gluten free pasta - tastes almo...

Update and Enterolab Results
Hi all, I posted in May or June when I got my diagnosis and was put on budesonide for about 6 weeks. At first, I was fine, then the symptoms came back a few months later. Rather than calling my doctor, I tried going gluten-free and that has done the trick. Which makes a lot of sense in light of the ...

Ugh... disappointed to hear that 1) apparently my doctor doesn't know what he's doing and 2) I would have to be on budesonide for that long. I have to figure out what I'm going to do. I'd rather not take a steroid for so long (especially such an expensive one). Thanks everyone for the wisdom and gui...

Hi Martha, Thanks for your reply! The enterolab test sounds like a good idea. I'll look into that. I didn't think a month on budensonide sounded like enough either, although I'm not enjoying the side effects (starving all the time). I know I have to eliminate dairy, and I will also try no-gluten. Th...

2 more weeks of budesonide (sp), then what?
I was diagnosed with lymphocytic MC after a colonoscopy (I am a 48 y/o woman). The doctors office prescribed budesonide for 2 weeks, then taper down for another 2. This was all left as a phone message without a word about dietary changes, and I didn't bother calling the office to get more info. Bude...
