Constipation

So here is a brief history that all will find familiar. LC diagnosed two years ago after 4 years of undiagnosed giardiasis. I did take a couple of courses of steroids with non lasting results. Dietary restrictions in place and have also seen a naturopath with long lasting results. Unfortunately the ...

Loperimide usage

I have a diagnosis of LC. I took my second round of steroids ending in early May with good results. I saw a naturopath and did a round of Nystatin for intestinal yeast and was put on multiple supplements and all were tolerated well. I follow the FODMAP diet. Last week I got hit with a viral illness ...

I finally got past my skepticism and saw a naturopath. She is nationally recognized and well thought of in the cancer community in Eugene. I was amazed at what she had to say. One of the things that was suggested was to do 23 and me that includes the medical portion. The results that the subscriber ...

Reactive arthritis

I was diagnosed with giardiasis a year ago after having gut issues for many years. It is thought that I had the infestation for all of those years! I had plantar fasciitis for several months prior to diagnosis. The giardiasis was treated with Flagyl but then diagnosed with LC last January. I develop...

Hi Barbara. Welcome to our strange world. I also have LC. I was diagnosed after a very frustrating 4 years. After many tests for parasites I finally was also diagnosed with giardiasis. The gastroenterologist felt that I had it for the whole four years but that it went dormant for some of that time. ...

Taking in to account that we are all individuals...what I have found a godsend for me is the low FODMAP diet. You can google it and find that this diet varies a bit by author but is essentially No wheat, no dairy, no fruit, no cruciferous vegetables and no beans/legumes. It also has low sugars. One ...

Thank you for this article on IBS Erica. I have a pet theory that hopefully these scientists will prove. That it is not 'all in our heads'. I am not normally an anxious, depressed or fearful person. What brought those feelings on was the abnormality of my gut. Having to live with foul smelling gas a...

I still don't have a clear diagnosis but when I was diagnosed with giardiasis in early December and started treatment my husband said "great, now you don't have to be on that diet any longer". It is funny that if you want to lose weight, pretty much any diet restriction you use is acceptab...

no diagnosis

I have been on the FODMAP diet since the beginning of September. GF, no dairy, no cruciferous vegetables, no fruit, no beans or legumes. Very low sugar. On a good probiotic. Two rounds of Flagyl so giardiasis should be gone. Up all night with symptoms yet again. I have never looked forward to a colo...

No dignosis yet.

I am back to square one on dealing with diarrhea. A bit of history. I was diagnosed with colon cancer, early stage back in 1997. They removed 18 inches of colon including my sigmoid colon. After the surgery constipation was the norm but I never used any medication for it. 4 years ago I developed sud...
