Thanks again, Tex. That does clear up my confusion and denial. I just ordered your book, so hopefully that will help me a bunch. I read one review about the book that said OTC anti-histamines helped, but he was talking about collagenous MC. I wonder if you know if anyone who has tried that with LC? ...

Thanks for the info. I'm going to order your book today. I just marvel at the fact that doctors won't tell you about how budesonide works. All my MD said about it was he didn't want me to take it long term, but didn't offer any other solutions except to try the FODMAP diet. It conflicts with what I'...

Triggers for flareups

I have been dealing with MC (or not dealing with it) for a little over a year. Most of that was remission, with a couple of flareup following the diagnosis and first remission. This time it is getting worse, not better. I don't understand how foods that you have been eating for years with no problem...

I took budesonide when I was first diagnosed in September 2015. I took 3mg a day for 6 weeks, then tapered off over the next few weeks. My Diarrhea stopped within 3 or 4 days of taking the pills, and the remission lasted for several months. The next time it flared up in late July, I took it again, b...

I'm still getting the hang of how posting on this site works. My previous comment was meant for Gabe, but it could also apply to the comments from Tex. Tex, I do not have RA, just some osteoarthritis, and degenerative disc disease of the lower lumbar spine and sacroiliac facet joints. I never heard ...

Thanks for your quick reply! I am from Idaho and have eaten potatoes all my life! But I can't stand sweet potatoes or yams. Do you know how to make homemade ghee? Coconut oil doesn't have much flavor, and even it it did (like unrefined) I hate the taste and smell of coconut! Unfortunately, I am a ve...

I am confused about the elimination diet. Have been taking supplements, enzymes, probiotics, etc. and still have not been able to get rid of the latest bout of LC. My holistic practitioner told me to avoid nightshade veggies and fruits, which include potatoes, yet the elimination diet says to eat po...

Wow. Thanks Tex and Gabe. I'm going to get some topical magnesium right away. As far as being "outdoorsy," I'm really not. I enjoy taking my little dogs for a walk each day, but that's about it. I know having some kind of hobby should help, but right now I feel like that would just be addi...

I can identify with the perfectionism causing more stress - my father was that way and I learned it from him. Needless to say, he had a myriad of health problems as he aged, including Crohn's disease. I am still working on letting go of things that really aren't that important. Several people have r...

Thank you all for your replies and ideas. I like the magnesium idea and am looking into purchasing a type of topical magnesium, which hopefully will bypass the effects of the antidepressant I take and the malabsorption caused by the MC. I will continue to watch this site and report any progress I ma...

Stress and MC

I am new to this sight and have been learning some interesting things. I firmly believe stress is a huge factor in the onset and relapses of my microscopic colitis. I have been working with a holistic nurse practitioner who has helped my immensely with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, etc. I was doing g...
