Once again, thank you to everyone for your kind wishes and advice. Today I had a consult with the surgeon and have decided on a mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy. Next Wednesday!!! (No long wait times in Canada!) And I needn’t have worried about hospital food......it will be DAY surgery! So...

Thank you all! It’s so good to have knowledgeable people with advice and support. I haven’t been told details yet so I don’t know what stage I’m in. Just trying to think ahead since I have to deal with LC as well. I’m in Canada so at least I don’t have to worry about health care. On the other hand, ...

Thank you so much, Teri, for offering your experience and positive thoughts. Congratulations on your success! I am trying to enjoy this day, this moment, and to stay calm. As you said, fear and anxiety only make things worse with LC and the immune system. One step at a time; I have to get through th...

Cancer and MC

So.......I was doing so well with my LC, having good long periods of ‘normality’, enjoying more foods without a reaction, and putting on weight. Now I’m facing a breast cancer diagnosis. Sigh. Thinking ahead to a mastectomy and possible radiation/chemo, I wonder how my body can cope with the stress,...

Thanks, Gabes. I'll try to do that without going crazy and eating too many off-LC-diet foods. It is tempting when meals have been restricted for some time.

Bottom line for me: no gluten ever and no tomato products.

Wishing the same improved health for everyone here!

In Remission and Wonder Why

For the last few weeks I have been in remission......if there is such a thing with LC. My gut and BMs are more normal than they've been in years. And I don't know why! I do not follow the diet recommended here (I'm not a meat eater), I don't take any drugs, and if I'm being honest, I haven't done al...

Blue Green Algae

Does anyone know if Blue Green Algae is safe and helpful to use for Microscopic Colitis? Has anyone here tried it? It's supposed to be an anti-inflammatory.

Thanks!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that MCers can fast. It's a big adjustment but I've already had to do that with my LC diet. More reading and research to do too.

Gut 'Massage'

This may sound funny.......I find massaging my abdomen helps with pain or discomfort in my gut that occurs after BMs and sometimes after eating. The funny part is that my favourite 'massage' is hooping! Yes, hula hooping! I loved it as a kid and now in my 60s I love it again. I made my own hoo...

Fasting

I've been reading a book called Unlocking the Obesity Code by Dr Fung and so much of it makes sense. I am not obese (101 lbs to 106 lbs depending on flares) but am interested in preventing insulin resistance and metabolic disorders that could result as well as eliminating fat around organs. He recom...

Absolutely! The 'new normal' is just fine with me because it could be (and was) so much worse. Just being able to carry on most normal activities equals 'normal'! For that I'm very grateful. Since I last stated that I was 'in remission', out of the blue I had a flare. The worst of it only lasted a d...

Foods with Lectin

After seeing the suggestion of the book, The Plant Paradox and a lectin-free diet, I looked up foods with lectin: Beans and Pulses Beans are among the main sources of lectins. Soy, kidney, navy, pinto, lima, fava, wax, castor, jack, string and field beans all contain lectins. Sweet peas, green peas,...
