I guess the answer is out there in the literature (a couple examples below). There does not appear to be a correlation between Sjogren's and Crohn's or UC.

Sjogren's vs Microscopic Colitis

I've been looking up a little info on Sjogren's (SS) since it appears that I may have it. Sjogren's can cause GI trouble and (if I read it right) features infiltration of lymphocytes. One article (below) states the best treatment is to test for food sensitivities and eliminate those foods that cause...

It might be more relevant to something like Crohn's disease which is thought to be an immune reaction to intestinal bacteria (possibly something specific like MAP or invasive E Coli). If a starchy diet increases the population of the troublesome bacteria (or yeast or whatever), then things like rice...

Plain Fritos always works for me. They're pretty greasy and salty, it might not be good for you. I think most people don't believe me when I tell them it's better for me to eat Fritos than fruit.

Thank you.

I was not given any other information than "areas of congested mucosa" that were biopsied. I was just wondering if that is what other people commonly hear after a colonoscopy.

Patches of congested mucosa?

Hi, I recently had a colonoscopy and am still waiting for the results of biopsies, but I was wondering if it's common to see patches of congested mucosa in the colon? I consider myself to be in remission, though I am having minor symptoms and some pain in specific places (ie - not what I would consi...

Am I the only one who has trouble with 500 mg of Vitamin C a day? That puts me in the bathroom several times (not quite "D", but not pleasant).

Is Crohn's in remission ever misdiagnosed as CC?

I know the active inflammation looks different, but if it has been in remission a while, it might not be obvious. I've heard that Crohn's can cause "thickening" in places, would that look similar to CC?

I've been taking saccharomyces boulardii for many years. A few times I tried to stop and always got very sick about a week later. I am not exactly sure what my problem is, though (IBS-D, microscopic colitis and Crohn's are all possible).

There's a book on Amazon (written by Tex, aka Wayne Persky) that covers all of this: https://www.amazon.com/Microscopic-Colitis-Revised-Wayne-Persky/dp/1732079234?crid=2JYZKK7BOHO9C&keywords=microscopic+colitis+wayne+persky&qid=1536850295&sprefix=microscopic+colitis%2Caps%2C133&sr=8-...

Thanks for the detailed response. I am trying to decide if it's worth getting a little sick to help determine what is going on with me. Maybe there will be enough evidence (microscopic or otherwise) without having to break my regimen and make myself sick.
I've handling it on my own for a long time...

How can you make sure colonoscopy (biopsies) show something?

I Haven't been diagnosed with anything but IBS (many years ago), but I haven't had a colonoscopy since things got pretty serious. I haven't had a serious flareup in 7+ years and I am getting a colonoscopy in a few months. I would like to make sure there is something for them to see in the biopsy sam...

Koilonychia (spoon nails)?

Anyone else have problems with "spoon nails" (Koilonychia)?
I have it on a couple of my fingernails for the last two years. It seems to be associated with anemia, Celiac or GI blood loss (among other things). I have not been diagnosed with any of those.
