Hi Erica!

Always good to see you on Facebook and here! So happy to know you are doing well. It really does take continued detective work to deal with this disease, no?

Love,

Polly

Jumping in here....... I agree with Tex about probiotics in MC. You have to take them daily forever, because they are not able to establish and propagate themselves in the GI tract. Also, if one of our goals is a healthy gut microbiome, then how do we know the probiotic isn't messing up an optimal b...

Wonderful news! (Actually, I already knew about this b/c Sherryann and I have been in touch by messaging). Thanks for posting this. I believe that many if not most with MC could benefit from at least a trial of cholestyramine. BAM is way under-diagnosed in this country....we do not have a test for i...

Bidet for Maximum Cleanliness

Hi All, I haven't been around much, so forgive me if this topic has been discussed. I just learned that there is now a toilet with a built-in bidet (one is made by Toto and is called the "Washlet"). Those of us with MC can appreciate how convenient and helpful this might be. There is one w...

Hi again Susan, I just learned that Colestipol comes in powder form. It didn't use to. I would guess that, if the number of grams refers to the active ingredient, that it should be the same no matter what form it is in. But I don't really know for sure. I would imagine you can't compare cholestyrami...

Susan, hello to a fellow "binder" user! I use the powder form of cholestyramine and take one packet twice a day, first thing in the AM and last thing at night. It is the one with sucrose, since I react negatively to the "phony" sugars. Currently on the Upshire brand, which has re...

Dorothy, One of the groups most likely to need and benefit from a bile acid binder (like cholestyramine or Colestipol) are those who have had their gallbladders removed and have developed chronic diarrhea. I think you are a prime candidate for it! I noticed that Gabes started a separate post to you ...

Hi again! I was just lurking and saw the more recent responses on this thread. Don't have time to respond now - am on the run - but will return tonight to share more of my thoughts. Dorothy, I believe there is hope for you - will explain later! Hi Sue777!!! So good to hear from you again. We do go b...

It appears you have relearned it all! Kudos! And it's great you are enjoying those little things. Still somewhat involved with local politics. Have continued on the Board of our local nature center and...... you will get a kick out of this: was recently appointed to the Board of our Maryland Agricul...

Hey Tex, great to "see" you!

Yes! Actually, my GI doc does a trial of cholestyramine before trying budenoside and has found that in many cases she hasn't needed to go to the latter.

Hope all is well with you, my dear friend!

Hi Everyone and especially Tex and Gabes! Old-timer here! Diagnosed with MC about 18 yrs. ago. Spent many years managing symptoms with food alone but never achieved really good control until I started cholestyramine (bile binder) several years ago. I would urge a trial for anyone who continues to ha...

Hi Lilja! Have you tried floating? We have a new spa nearby where one can float for 60-90 min. in an Epsom salt bath. I haven't tried it yet but it is supposed to be incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. The water is about 8 inches deep and due to the heavy salt content, you float on your back in it...

Hi Permafrost,

If you have had a cholecystectomy, has anyone recommended a trial of cholestyramine, a bile binder? Many who have diarrhea after a cholecystectomy have found this med to be a lifesaver.
