LYN, what is K2, mark4? I am clueless! I am envious that you have been able to add a little dairy back in. Someday I hope to enjoy a little cheese again. But it has been 14 years since I got MC, and I still can't tolerate it. Sigh. Love, Polly Hi Polly, There are two main types of vitamin K - K1 an...

Hi Leslie, The reason you see so many variants on the paleo idea is that people are working from the basic assumptions, (eat real food like humans were designed to, and no factory food) and playing around the edges in trying to optimise it from there. You need to eat what works for you, which may no...

Cows milk causes reaction in coeliac patients

Hi all,

This study shows that people who have coeliac also react to cows milk, particularly the casein component.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1810502/

We have known that for a long time, but it's nice to have a study backing us up.

Thank you Tex! You always remember the time difference as well!! I appreciate that. Got some lovely bling this morning, and going out to dinner tonight. We are going to a local restaurant which has the majority of items on it's menu available gluten free. I rarely eat out for anything other t...

Hi Zizzle, Have a look on medline for CIU and either H Pylori or B12. Separate studies. I don't have time to hunt them down right now, but there was some stupidly high percentage of CIU patients tested positive for H Pylori, and when it was treated their symptoms went away. B12 deficiency in a small...

Reading this thread I thought it might help to clear up any ambiguity. Soy (soy beans) the plant does not contain gluten. Soy Sauce usually does contain gluten, as wheat is added to the soy beans as part of the fermentation process. Some newer Soy Sauces claim to be gluten free due to the level of p...

Hi CM, Regarding the non-GF family. A couple of strategies I use to reduce the risk of cross contamination are: Insist the the bread/toast are only used on one bench. Wipe benches and dining tables down with damp paper towel - it is amazing all the breadcrumbs you pick up!. Then it can go straight i...

Thanks for posting that Zizzle. My brother has Lupus, and right at the moment is back in hospital having yet another crisis. His veins are breaking down, so when he had surgery in February to remove his dialysis perma-cath from his arm, he developed a tiny leak in a vein. He doesn't need dialysis si...

Big sigh. Paleo doesn't have to be something that consumes you. It does not have to involve reducing calories or hanging out with only paleo-obsessed people. It is not low carb - unless you choose to eat that way. It should not be low calorie ( In fact, I keep seeing people on the forums saying 'eat...

unusual tip for travelling

This is a mostly predictable article on traveling, until he gets to his special item to pack. http://travelnwellness.com/overcome-gluten-intolerance/ Yup, just think what you can really cook in an electric kettle. You'd want to give it a decent clean before making your morning cuppa, but seriously, ...

Jane, Have a read of this information on how they measure cholesterol, and why a high number can actually be good, or at the very least doesn't mean what your doctor thinks it means: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/thread4723.html I don't know what your diet looks like, but for some people when...

Lesley, I know you have tried almost everything for your C, but I don't remember if you have tried eating a diet with a substantial fat component. Over on the paleo forums, constipation when starting the diet is a common experience, and this is one of the techniques (along with drink lots of water) ...

I'd be trying as much as possible before taking a break from the Entocort, after watching the experiences of those who have had breaks and gone back to it. Have a go at some self trigger point work as described by the Sock Doc: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HejnlGCcIOA Is it possible the pregnancy/...
