Thanks, Wayne. I am continuing my slow withdrawal from budesonide along with my diet changes. Still looking for a fallback that isn’t steroidal in the event of another onset, once i’m Off the budesonide. I appreciative your lay opinion as you’re more knowledgeable than most professionals in my exper...

Mesalamine taken with cholestryamine
Has anyone had any success taking these drugs on a maintenance level in controlling CC? I am currently tapering budesonide, taking 6 mg a day, while maintaining a low fiber, GF and dairy free diet. Mixed success. I recently talked to an ulcerative colitis sufferer who achieved complete remission by ...

Thanks, Tex. I almost think my husband is more overwhelmed (and suspicious about my choices at this point) than I am. I have suspected the diet issues were a problem for a long time and underwent the testing with an inkling as to what the outcome would be. He is very suspicious of my leading my own ...

Not sure I understand what you mean re budesonide—do you mean the following: After having tapered to 3mg after 4 months and staying on 3mg for 2 months, I would need to continue the taper to 1 3mg cap every other day for a while and then every 3rd day for a while? I do get that I need to do this all...

Test Results
I just received my Enterolab results and I am sensitive to the standard offenders: gluten, dairy and soy and had a 1+ immunological reaction to oats, tuna and almonds. This makes my recovery diet pretty clear, but I have a few questions: My cow's milk IgA was 19 units. Do I have to avoid butter too?...

Ha! Love wet hen analogy. I don’t doubt there is some backbiting and hubris among those docs. I went ahead and ordered the tests suggested. Once I know for certain what to avoid, I’ll feel more confident about this diet. Thanks again and I’ll let you know how things turn out. I’m also looking forwar...

Thanks, Tex. When I take 9mg budesonide a day, my symptoms pretty much disappear within a few days. So my plan is to continue with the foods I listed and when I have the cash, I’ll get those two tests done so I know where I stand. Have you or the people on this forum ever had an experience where Ent...

Confusion
So, after reading on this website for a few days and online in general, striving to understand the way forward, I'm wondering if I should go back on a full dose of budesonide and plan on being on it while I do the elimination diet. I have been awfully depleted since I started it and battling D with ...

So I just bought Tex's book. Thanks all, for your help and advice. I think I made the decision to do the elimination diet without much thought, but now that I'm here, I'm going to learn as much as I can and see if I can come to peace with it. I'm sure I'll have more questions. Thanks again for your ...

So, if I understand you, I need to go back on the budesonide full strength (9 mg a day)' continue on the dairy-free, gluten free and all other potentially offending foods for a period of several months while I very slowly taper off the budesonide? I confess I was looking for a quicker fix. In my dre...

So, I have been tapering the budesonide for several months. I began in May with 9 mg. I tapered to 6 mg and stayed on that dosage for a month. I then tapered to 3 mg and stayed on that dosage for a month or more. I then went to 1 3 mg capsule every other day. With each tapering, my bowels got steadi...

Beef
I am currently in full blown diarrhea mode--slightly controlled by 3 mg budesonide every other day, loperamide every other day that I don't take the budesonide. I have been trying to eat per the elimination diet guidelines, but for some reason, decided beef was an option. Is it not? And, if I am hav...

Cooking with wine on elimination diet
I am a few days into the elimination diet and wonder if I can cook a chuck roast in wine with potatoes and carrots... I know alcohol is not in the diet, but cooked maybe? Otherwise I will resign myself. It's an organic grass fed cut so should be good regardless since all I've eaten so far is chicken!...
