Very interesting! I still have my elevated serum tryptase, an indication of mast cell activity. I'm now suspecting that the mast cell activation is secondary to LC action in the colon or the stomach. Although my bowel movements are fairly regular now, I still have stomach problems and many food sens...

This has been an very interesting thread to read! I have neuropathy symptoms too whereas the MC colon symptoms were mild and virtually stopped after I removed gluten and casein from my diet. But I do have stomach problems that have persisted since then and seem to react to eating the vast majority o...

I didn't know Enterolab was offering additional food panels. That's great to know! But it can limit options. Ugh!

You're welcome Lesley and Gloria! I was amazed by the report that people with MC even without Celiac Disease tend to have shorter villi. Perhaps you've see that before since naturally a dissertation contains an overview of the literature.

Wishing you well!

2011 Dissertation on MICROSCOPIC COLITIS by Koskela

Hi All, Have you seen this 20 May 2011 dissertation? You probably have, but just in case. It confirms many of the points I've seen mentioned on this forum in the last few years. None of this is necessarily new news, but it's nice to see it brought together in an academic and medical presentation. Th...

Back to the mast cell theory! Update

Hi Tex and Everyone! Sometimes I think I will just go around in circle forever! At my last update, I was pinning my problems on elevated dopamine that wasn't properly metabolizing to DOPAC, possibly due to a problem with the MAO enzyme. Later I discovered that aromatic hydrocarbons can mess with you...

Thanks everyone, these are all great suggestions! I have had a mineral analysis on my hair, a number of years ago. Another interesting idea to consider. I've had so many alternative tests done in the past that didn't shed light on my situation that I'm hesitant to invest money in more tests unless I...

Thanks for your replies, support and interest. Zizzle ~ I've read that 33% of the population have lower activity of this particular enzyme; not necessarily radically lower as appears to be the situation in my case. I do think this was genetic to some degree in my situation. I've had an aversion for ...

Update and possible breakthrough

Hi Everyone, It looks like I have good news in terms of an explanation for my ongoing food problems! Here's the quick back story for those of you who do not know me. I have MC in remission for 5 years (it was mild to begin with), on GF diet, DQ 1,1 genes, but have continued with almost all pervasive...

Tex, Thanks for telling me about your neurological damage. The great thing about this forum is the chance to hear other people's stories and to confirm one's own experience. I was pre-diabetic briefly, not more than a year. I corrected this quickly via diet. So that could be an additional factor as ...

My gluten experiment

After 5 years off of gluten - except for very recent exposure to tiny amounts - I decided to do a gluten experiment and eat a piece of chocolate cake. It wasn't a pure experiment because I also happened to eat some rice chips with sesame on the same day. When I went to bed - about 12 hours later - I...

Harma,

I'm just like you. I've become very sensitive to almost everything! My sense of smell is multiplied 100x and my nose is easily irritated. No way with perfumes or washing powder with perfumes.

Absolutely, I tend to think of myself as an HSP. My niece is also very sensitive so I suspect the genetic link.

That's really interesting, Tex. I too have osteopenia, but it has been progressing rapidly since it was first diagnosed a year or two before the MC dx.

I find it harder to find information about casein-sensitivity so this was very helpful. My score was only about 11 so like Tex says, it may not be so meaningful. I have gotten joint pain from drinking straight-on milk in my pre-MC days so I try to stay cognizant of the possibilities. Thanks.
