Re: Suggested Eating Plan - Stage ONE

Thanks for answering so quickly, Tex! you will never know how much this site means to so many of us out here in GI-issues-land! I am very aware that “IBS” is basically a catch-all for whatever is still undiagnosable medically, but exists in the patient nevertheless. Likely, my IBS diagnosis 40 yrs a...

Re: Suggested Eating Plan - Stage ONE

It’s really hard for me distinguish what symptoms are being caused by which food because, often what flares up the MC is not what flares up the IBS, it adds to issues from the IBS. Thanks for answering my last post so quickly!

Re: Suggested Eating Plan - Stage ONE

Hey, Tex - I have IBS-D and MC-L...I used EnterLab about a yr after my diagnosis. I know I have still have some “triggers” that maybe weren’t involved 2 yrs ago when the lab was done, but I am moving toward a low FODMAPs diet since it seems that a number of the high FODMAPs foods are players, in my ...

Re: Suggested Eating Plan - Stage ONE

Could it be that the lamb meat purchased was NOT totally fed on regular grass pastureland, but what the owners were using a mix to feed the flock? Maybe included wheat or what bi-products?

Pickled foods

How do most of the MCers here do when it comes to eating refrigerator pickled veggies? Summer’s here...use to eat this, but not sure if I can still have pickled foods, canned or refrigerated. Thoughts?

Thanks, Tex, for your quick response. I’m happy to know that I can try some of the legumes I’ve never seemed to have a problem w/ and MIGHT just find a few that are okay for me.

Lab results question

So my EnteroLab score on soybeans as the indicator for legumes was 10 which means I absolutely can NOT have any legumes. 0r does it mean there MAY be SOME of them you MIGHT be able to have a SMALL amount of OCCASIONALLY? I have had a few legumes occasionally that gave me no problems. Not questioning...

Nancy and Beverly ~ Thanks for the input on baked items. Any suggestions for crackers...I use 6 at lunch for meat/non-dairy cheese. You can see on my profile the grains, corn, rice, almond, dairy, etc that I can’t have.

Hi, Gabe’s ~ Thanks for addressing the question about magnesium. I switched from Mag Oxide to Mag Citrate when I read about the 2-3% absorption issue w/ Oxide form in 1 day rather than the gradual increase as suggested a few days later in next reading on the forum. I take 500 mg total spit into noon...

Good Morning, Tex ~ Thanks for the quick and thoughtful response, Tex! I read on the forum in many places that the suggested levels were Mag 500 mg and Vit D3 at 5,000 IU, so I doubled my Mag and change the form to Citrate rather than oxide. Was that suggested level of Mag primarily for MC people wh...

Hi, Brandy ~ Thanks for responding so quickly and taking the time to review the Level 1 Eating Plan on my behalf. I’ve been taking Mag Citrate 500 mg for a month (previous to that, took Mag Oxide 500 mg for several yrs until I learned we only absorb 2-3% of that form...thanks Tex), Vit D3 5,000 IU, ...

Still struggling w/ Level 1

Stools were back to my old normal. Now, after pouring over my journal noting ANYTHING different, in the last wk I’ve gone backwards (even to a watery D, one time)...have no clue. Back to Level 1 w/ NO additions...still can’t get back to my normal. Still GF/DF/SF and eating as lab results restriction...

Hi, again, Erica - Thanks for responding so quickly. I thought maybe that was the difference, so I will apply your suggestion. Just spent 2 hrs helping someone “discover” this forum...she was recently diagnosed w/ MC/C. Our 2 husbands were exchanging that news at the grocery store where her husband ...
