Thank you for the link to the article. Very interesting. I recently received results from a dna gut test and it shows I have a high histamine gene, among other things. I am told high histamine produces too much zonulin, and that causes leaky gut, and then D. I am trying to read up on all this. Start...

If you contact the people at enterolab about testing they will tell you if its the proper time to test if you have been taking budesonide. Its a lot to spend if your results wont be accurate due to the steroid. They are very helpful as I had just started taking budesonide and I was able to do the te...

I am on my second round of Budesonide. I am now taking 3 mg every 4 days to taper off slowly. I had many side effects, such as thinning hair, bruising, headaches, acne, increased facial hair, and vision changes. GI didnt think it was the meds. I didnt have these on the first round but I wasnt on it ...

Try taking Milk of Magnesia to help with the constipation. We used that when my daughter had surgery and got backed up. Stool softener didnt quite do it. Narcotics and pain killers can cause constipation.

Hope you are both feeling better soon.

Thanks Tex,

I think I am just one of the unlucky ones to get side effects. My only other med is for blood pressure and I doubt thats causing it. I am hoping it comes back after I am done with my slow taper.

I found your post while searching hair loss. I too have this problem. I noticed a similarity in your test results. My TSH levels are with the standard rage, like yours. My nutritionist said my PCP would say they are fine, but could also be part of my hair loss. Yep, PCP said post menopause and hered...

Hair Problems

I too am experiencing hair loss. I attribute it to a side effect of budesonide but GI doesnt believe that since its such a low dose that gets into the bloodstream. I am also getting acne, little white heads, on my face, which may also be a side effect. If not the medicine its the disease. I am tryin...

Functional Doctor in Minnesota

Does anyone have any recommendations for a functional medicine doctor and alternative doctor, naturopath, integrative, or whatever they are called, doctor in Minnesota? I decided to taper off the budesonide as I believe it is causing multiple side effects. It did work to stop the D but its been almo...

This is in response to the original post about going down the wrong path. I too am having problems with my vision and I am thinking it is from budesonide. I have had cataract surgery and even yag laser surgery in both eyes. Had lasik many years ago. Still not seeing clearly. Lots of cloudiness and f...

Blood tests for vitamin levels

What blood tests can I have done to find out my magnesium level, or vitamin D level, vit B, zinc, etc? I didn’t have any blood work to know my levels before being diagnosed last year. I have been taking supplements for several months, besides Budenoside. Wondering if I am getting the right mix of th...

I have sleep issues. My nutritionist recommended trying 5-HTP though its not recommended for long term use. I think it has helped, but I still cannot sleep for more than 2-3 hours, then wakeup, then maybe toss a while and sleep for another couple hours and repeat. Is this the MC or a side effect of ...
