Re: Hello!

The Dr. prescribed budesonide which was cost prohibitive. Budesonide is the first line medical protocol for microscopic colitis among American gastroenterologists, and probably now among gastroenterologists worldwide. I am on a 40-48 week budesonide taper for biopsy diagnosed LC, and it worked to s...

Welcome, Denise. I was biopsy diagnosed with LC on June 30, 2018, after being stricken out of the blue with incessant watery diarrhea on April 13. Prior to that, I had never had any GI problems in my 73 years. Two gastroenterologists I consulted recommended budesonide therapy. You should know that a...

I've been taking budesonide for 25 weeks and wouldn't stop because I got diarrhea for three days. Lots of things can cause episodes of diarrhea, in anyone including budesonide patients, such as various microorganisms from food or the environment. I've had three one-day episodes of diarrhea in the 25...

Yes, the budesonide signature is showing up in the two posts I made earlier today, but the signature isn't retroactively applied to earlier posts, as other changes in my profile are when I make them. I thought the signature function wasn't working because I was always checking for it in past posts. ...

Why can't I get a "signature" to show?

I put a signature comment in the signature box and check the show signature button, press submit, but the signature words don't show up, at least in my past posts. Am I doing something wrong? (This is also a test to see if they show up in future posts.)

Your call, Tex, obviously. But now I'm curious about this comment: there are already plenty of conventional forums out there that dwell exclusively on drug treatments Forums about microscopic colitis? Would you mind identifying one or two, as I haven't found any. (If they're on Facebook, I don't do ...

I'd stick with your two month pattern rather than shifting to a lower dose earlier. What's the risk in sticking to your successful schedule? To me, there seems to be none. The greater risk, in my opinion, is a return of diarrhea by accelerating the schedule. I say that in the context of my belief th...

The diarrhea associated with MC is called secretory diarrhea. It involves the infusion of water into the colon (rather than out of it, as is normally the case). This is what causes the high volume of watery diarrhea associated with MC. And with secretory diarrhea, electrolytes are infused into the ...

An internet support forum is valuable for a lot of reasons, but I would be asking my doctor these biochemical questions about an adequate vitamin D level and why supplementation might be having no effect. According to the following article from the Harvard Medical School, updated two months ago, the...

Re: What's the definition for a flare-up?

Hi everyone, My healing journey has had its ups and downs recently, and I've been learning what foods can put me out of commission if I'm not careful. For example, popcorn, raw nuts, seeds like flax, chia , etc. If I ate gluten or milk in the past, I never felt as bad as I would with some of the it...

I don't share the cynicism about doctors that some people on this site apparently have. However, a healthy skepticism of the medical "state of the art" is always prudent, because it always changes, and patients should in part become their own researchers and advocates. The economics of med...
