Erica - that’s very interesting - thank you! My Vitamin D levels are now much better that they have ever been and i haven’t gotten any sunburn recently despite sitting in the sun for much longer than I would normally - admittedly it’s not summer sun here yet though. I am now very interested to see h...

Hi Alice, I’ve been following the strict recovery diet since July now. I’d say it’s been in the last month or so that I felt confident enough to start reintroducing some foods. So I guess that means I was eating very strict for 2 months or so. My specialist wanted me to try budesonide when I was fir...

Hi Alice, I’m a fellow Australian who was diagnosed with LC a few months ago. I also have coeliacs (I was diagnosed with that more than 10 years ago). At the time of my LC diagnosis I was already following a pretty strict whole foods (grain free) diet so found it hard to believe that I would need to...

My GP has told me that I can take up to 4 tablets a day. That thought slightly horrifies me!! I’m considering taking 2 (one in the morning, one at night) but will put that off for as long as I can.

Maybe I’ll remove bananas from my diet for a few days and see if that has any impact...

I agree Tex. I’m convinced I have a histamine issue. I’m itchy all the time, even though I’m only eating a very limited range of food (as per phase 1 of the recovery diet). The only thing that might be considered high histamine though is banana and I follow your recommendations with that (freezing t...

Are antihistamines safe to use long term??

I’ve tried searching the archives regarding this but can’t find anything so I’m wondering if anyone knows the implications of using antihistamines long term? I’ve been dealing with incredibly itchy skin (mainly on my chin, cheeks and scalp but occasionally random other places all over my body) and r...

Thanks so much Tex. I will try freezing my bananas and see how that goes. I don’t like them over-ripe anyway. I’ll steer clear of the nut butters for now as I’m not eating any nuts (my allergist told me to avoid all of the major allergens until we figure out why my IgE levels are so high). I’ve been...

Thanks for the information re: digestive enzymes. I was a bit worried when I read the report but it’s good to know that it should sort itself out when healing has progressed further. I agree. I think I’m having a lot of histamine issues. It’s frustrating me a lot. Bananas can also be considered to b...

Reintroduction of avocado and general update

Hi everyone, I’ve been doing quite well recently - have found my “safe” foods of lamb, beef, pork, sweet potato, pumpkin, carrots, banana and bone broth. I’ve basically been eating these 8 things on rotation for a couple of weeks now and my symptoms have greatly improved. Yesterday I tried avocado a...

Thanks Erica for your input, I appreciate it. I did look into ReMag but it was difficult to get here in a Australia so I opted for something more local first. So far it seems to be going quite well. No negative side effects at all

I’m sensitive to water changes too. Whenever I go on holidays I only drink bottled water. And I use a water purifier at home. Water changes have always caused digestive issues for me, even as a child.

I’ll keep taking the Vitamin D I have then until the new stock arrives and keep a careful eye on any worsening of symptoms.

Thanks so much for all your help with this.

I used to have psyllium husk quite a bit and my stools were definitely thicker but the stomach pains were much worse. It’s pure fibre I believe and I believe we’re supposed to stick to low fibre while we’re inflamed...but I’m new here so I’m sure someone else will know a lot more then me!

If I was in one of the more northern states I’d be ok but I’m in Victoria which is notorious for its cold and sunless winters. Won’t really improve much for another couple of months at least.

So you would take the vitamin D tablets that I have now even though they contain soy??
