Need food suggestions - MC and yeast infection

After a full five year hiatus I'm back with MC. Had emergency surgery last Nov, then developed pneumonia and plural effusion (water outside the lungs) - hospitalized for 3 weeks with loads and loads of antibiotics. After I got home I got a yeast infection (surprised? NOT). Two courses of anti-fungal...

Gloria and Tex, Thanks for helpful info and suggestions. There is so much learning that goes on with this - just when i think i have something figured out, i figure out that i really don't! I'm giving some thought to staying at this dosage of Entocort (6mg) and using this time to experiment w...

Yes, malabsorption is a problem in my case. Maintaining or gaining weight has been a tremendous problem despite the volume of food, and since this started i've always had floating poopies which is apparently an indicator as well. I do take liquid minerals but a pill form of mulit-vitamin, D3, b12, a...

Question about diet after Entocort

While i was on Entocort i was beginning to branch out beyond the bananas, chicken, and rice, adding a few things - still no dairy, no soy, and nothing really bad like tomatoes or any insoluble fiber, and tho i did eat a couple of peaches because i couldn't imagine a summer going by without them, bas...

Don't mean to sound too ignorant, but i really don't understand how pureed veggies or fruit are any different to our intestines than whole fruit or veggies that have been chewed and eaten. I don't see how it affects the fiber content? Like so many, i still can't eat most fruits and veggies - tho i c...

Thank you for your replies. Sounds like i can be a little less afraid of trying my Darvocet again. When i switched to Limbrel from Celebrex it took a lot of getting used to - the level of pain became higher but still manageable. From a health perspective, i decided not to take the chance on heart pr...

It's strength testing - been doing it for 30 years. It was a real stretch for me to believe in since i'm a math/science person, but it works and you can't deny the physical evidence. The basic theory is that when something is bad for you, you strength level goes down dramatically. So if i touch some...

Safe to take Darvocet?

Question: i have a lot of inflammatory joint pain due to Ankylosing Spondylitis (a kind of RA that affects mostly the spine and large joints). It is very difficult living without something to take for pain relief from time to time that i've had to do since this LC flare started. I use external produ...

s. boulardi

Just noticed your post about s. boulardi. I completely turned a corner after taking it (I bought the Jarrow formula). After about 3 weeks i stopped for 4 days and went back to a regular probiotic without yeast and things started to get worse right away. I'm back on it and it really seems to help me ...

Nutrition Guide for Fructose Malabsorption - 2009

Found a website that i haven't seen mentioned here (that's not to say it's not here - there's so much - but i didn't find it). It lists FODMAP diet foods that are safe to eat, those to try in moderation, and those to avoid. i think it will make it easier for me to try this having it listed this way....

Coconut oil

I've been searching for info here about using coconut oil to heal intestines but i haven't found much - is that because it isn't the miracle cure that i read about on the internet (it can be confusing because i believe everything i read on the internet just like on TV and in the newspaper - oh, and ...

I'm with Gloria - up at least 3 times and that definitely disrupts sleep. I don't sleep very soundly since back pain is always an issue with my AS - so moving means trying to get comfortable again. I'd have to go with about 7 hours of light - med sleep.

MC linked to bowel obstruction?

Just curious if anyone has info linking bowel obstruction to MC. I've had it in the past - they had to go in and "unkink" my intestines and suture part of them to my abdominal wall to keep them in place - a part of my small intestine was being herniated by a loop of large intestine each ti...
