Re: Help. Feeling hopeless

Oh my. I really feel for you. I am by no means an expert on this - I will leave that to others - but I can definitely sympathize. One thing I have learned over the past 3 months I've dealt with, trying to "fix" this, is that Time is the biggest healing factor - at least for me. Patience is...

Re: What is " normal"?

Thanks, Tex. I think that I get excited when I have a semi-normal BM and then get discouraged when I have a diarrhea-ish one later in the day. I know in my head that I am still in the beginning stages of this very long (rest of my life!) journey, but my emotions get in the way and kick me down a few...

What is " normal"?

I'm sure this isn't a new question, but I can't seem to find the answer, so here's my question: At what point is one considered in remission? What is the new normal for someone with LC? What sort of BM's and what frequency is considered normal? Am I correct in thinking that poop will never look like...

Re: How to stop obsessing/over-analysing symptoms/BMs?

Hello Alice- I am fairly new to this forum, and I just read your post. MAN does it resonate with me!!! I was diagnosed less than a month ago and have gone down the same path you have re: recovering and emotional struggles. Although I have always managed my weight well, food was always my go-to for e...

Re: Hello! New to the group.

Hi there! Your timetable for developing LC mirrors mine. No sensitivities to anything before; lots of stress to deal with. My issues started in Sept. of last year and my colonoscopy was just before Christmas. I went cold turkey on Jan. 2, once I found out my diagnosis. I cut out all gluten, dairy, e...

Re: Newbie here

Thanks Tex. I've had an easier time giving up the dairy than the gluten. It IS addictive - highly so!!! I gave it up once several years ago for about half a year, and it took about 3 months before the cravings went away. But they did. I know they will again, but this time I know there is no turning ...

Re: Newbie here

Thanks for your helpful words! It absolutely makes sense that getting things under control before worrying about balanced nutrition is the way to go. I've been taking 5,000 IU's of vitamin D3 4-5 days out of 7 for a long time now (along with calcium/magnesium) and the last time it was checked it was...

Newbie here

Hello all - New member here. I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with lymphocytic colitis and diverticulosis. I have since done a lot of reading on the subjects (including Wayne Persky's book) and have questions (imagine that!). Apparently, a low-fiber diet is recommended for the colitis and a high-fiber di...
