I went into a small speciality grocery store/pharmacy in my home town. This was before I got the results from Dr. Fine's lab. I was just looking to see what they had, and how expensive it was. When checking out- the lady asked me if I had CD? I told her no- but probably GI. Boy did I get a dirty loo...

Interesting radio interview

I found a link to this radio interview. The Dr is from New Zealand, a GI that specializes in CD and GI. Dr Rodney Ford. Some of his ideas are interesting. Don't know that I agree with them all, but it was interesting. http://theceliacmaniac.com/?p=1138 The interview starts in about 22 minutes into s...

Family support

One of my daughters found the Betty Crocker gluten free brownies at the store. She not only purchased them, but went home & cooked them and brought them over! Sure made my day!

Thanks for suggestions. I found a local feed store that sells rat bait, so I'm going to get that and bait inside and out. Great idea Tex- using PVC to protect the pets. My cat caught one baby mouse, and played with it for a couple days. Batted it around, and pitched it to the dog to torture. It fina...

My dishwasher is dead!

I am being such a good girl. I got my income tax refund, and went out & bought tons of gluten free stuff to cook. And a rice cooker. And a wok. And a mixer. And new bakeware to replace all my gluten contaminated ones. And cookbooks. My freezer is full of prepared meals, deserts, bread (a first f...

Amazon

Amazon.com has hundreds of gluten free products. I live near a large city with several stores that carry gluten free items, but not everyone does. And the prices on Amazon beat what I pay locally. A lot of the items qualify for free shipping, so give it a look see. Just baked my first loaf of glutte...

Dr. Fine testing showed a 4 for casein tolerance. I think over 10 was sign of a problem. I'm not a big milk drinker- but do use it a lot in cooking. And CHEESE- OH PLEASE don't want to give it up! And ice cream! If I can just pop a pill and eat it, I will be a happy camper!

Lactose

I'm reacting to dairy. My question? Can I take a Lactaid and go ahead and eat it? Is it the lactose that causes the D, or something else?

Thanks- Colleen :cleantoilet:

I'm turning into "those people" I used to scoff at

I go to the health food store for heavens sake. I used to nuke me a Marie Collender dinner every night. I'm baking and cooking- something I haven't done since the kids grew up and moved out. I read labels, a true torture for a woman who put off grocery shopping at all costs. Grocery shopping was a c...

OK I am doing okay. Finding recipes I like, buying the high priced gluten free stuff, and strictly following gluten free diet. My problem? D is returning. Tex suggested I may need to avoid dairy for a while. Looks like he is right. Damn I'm going to miss my nightly ice cream! And in June I'm t...

OK- here's my results. Probably wrong area to post them, but I'm not real good at computer stuff. I read them to say glutens are out, dairy okay. Yeah- I need my ice cream! Just got ripped on this stuff. 60 caps at my pharmacy (a one month supply) cost me $134 a month ago, then $179 a couple days ago. Went to Dr today and she increased my dosage to 3 daily. Went to mail order web site- and it says I will pay $65.00 for 3 months- 270 caps. Claims insurance will pay $216...

Two stops today. First was at Enterol Lab to deliver my sample & pay for an upgrade to the gluten sensitivity and gene panel screening. I actually live about 30 miles from them. Then I went back to the first Dr to get a 90 day script for Entocort. Pharmacy charged me $179 for a 30 day supply las...

Thanks for the support and words of wisdom. I just ordered the test for gluten intolerance. Unfortunately it is the only one I can afford now. Cannot imagine a diet without it, but I'll do it if I have to. Again, Thanks.
