Hi there, the small pea-like structures you describe, in the back of your throat, are called tonsil stones. They can vary in size from tiny (less than a grain of rice) to pea size. I get a tiny one once in a while. There is lots of information about them if you search under "tonsil stones"...

Hi all, about five or so years ago I thought I had celiac disease and was reading everything I could find on it. Seems to me I ran across something about a certain Adenovirus (there was a number behind it, don't remember which) resembling some cell structure in gluten, and the inference was that som...

Hi there, I admire how well you managed your interview day. Will there be a second interview? It just reminded me of an interview with a manager, to get my "foot in the door" with the State of Minnesota. He was a tough guy, and put applicants through the meat grinder. One of the questions ...

Hi Tex, my husband has been on 10 mg Lisinopril/12.5 HCTZ since 1999, with no side effects, and it works great for him. I also have high Bp and fluid retention and have tried many many blood pressure medications over the years, but with numerous nasty side effects. Got so I just gave up, because wha...

I can't quite figure out gluten's effect on me...the only thing that happens when I eat bread, is that I get persistent heartburn. The "flares" I have had that involve terrible "D" all seem to be at times when I was under unusual stress and pressure in life situations. Tomato sau...

Hi GLJ, I had a food sensitivity test via blood test and it came out that I was bothered by bananas, tea, egg whites, pears, and clams. This was about 15 years ago. Guess I didn't take it too seriously because over the years I have eaten eggs, bananas and drank tea. I now find that if I avoid the eg...

Hi again, I believe I mentioned this before, but it's so worth it to mention it again.....I have LC, like you, and manage it with diet alone, although I did need to use Imodium a few times at the start, plus probiotics. The most dramatic almost overnight change was going gluten free and the heartbur...

I live in North Dakota, so we don't get enough sun to provide the vitamin D in our bodies. I take a supplement of vitamin D, over-the-counter, in the amount of 2,000 I.U. per softgel, daily. This would be 14,000 I.U. per week. You are taking 100,000 I.U. per week? My bottle says 2,000 = 500% of ones...

Hi, I also was diagnosed with LC a few years ago. I have had a rather touchy bowel most of my life. Stress will set it off, and extreme stress can bring on a flare of the explosive watery D. In January I was under extreme stress and had a full blown attack of D many times a day. I do not tolerate ce...

Hi Susan, sorry to hear things are not going well. Whenever I see flare and stress in the same message, I am sure that stress is implicated, maybe even more than diet, given everything you have already eliminated from your diet. Tremendous stress is something else. That is what brought about a flare...

Doctor, make my day!

Hi all, I recently took a trip to visit a cousin in another state. She is very health conscious. First morning, I get up, look in the mirror and see that I have a very bloodshot eye, also matter leaking out. I show my cousin the offending eye and she says "pink eye, you have pink eye, and need ...

Hi all, regarding GERD, here is my experience with it. Had it in my 20's when I was pregnant. Didn't have it after that until my 40's. What sets it off for me is: chocolate, tomato sauce in a hot dish, chili, pizza, bananas, etc., overeating in general (too full) and bread of any kind, plus soda pop...

Hi there, and welcome. Yep, yellow is my color, too when having a flare. In my case I am sure it is because of too rapid transit thru the gut. I just got over a flare and as it resolved, the yellow became more tan, and finally brown. I have had success with things in general calming down in my life,...
