My TSH was about 7, T4 was normal. Ive read a lot however (STTM) that lab values are not always so accurate, and it can be better to treat using symptoms... This link was posted in another thread here on the board, its very similar to the book I mentioned, in fact this guy may be on of his students....

Thyroid Docs
First, for what its worth, I would like to share my experience with the Paleo/SCD. I have been GF for a few years now, but continued to have issues. Its been about 4 months now that I have been on a modified paleo diet (I eat homemade cheese) and I have not had any flairs, regained my normal weight ...

I posted this link a few days ago. I think what they are doing could potentially revolutionize healthcare. Many on this board are familiar with the lack of research for a lot of the 'illnesses' that we suffer from. It is often said that this is because the large drug companies and other big players ...

microbiome - for science!
I think this could be an awesome project with the potential to bring some insight into IBS/autoimmune diseases. I don't have the extra dough, or I would sign up. What do you guys think? Tony uBiome -- Sequencing Your Microbiome World's FIRST citizen science project to sequence the human microbiome. ...

@Brandy.... I still do wake up, but its not as intense. Normally I'm able to get back to sleep, so it isn't as bad as it was. I would suggest getting your cortisol levels checked or talking to a MD or ND that is familiar with adrenal issues if you haven't already. After finally getting some tests do...

I have read one of Dr. Cordains books, and I was under the impression that starchy tubers were out. Online there seems to be varying opinions, some say potatoes yes, other no. Here in Brazil, cassava (tapioca) was a staple of the indigenous peoples. The word tapioca in fact is from their language. I...

Thanks for the kind words.. its appreciated. Yes, getting your head together can indeed be challenging, even if you dont have a chronic illness. I was not aware of the new panel at enterolabs. Sounds like a good idea, Im not sure how possible it would be to send a sample from Brazil however. Ill hav...

My Update
It has been quite a while since Ive posted, and I thought it was time to check in. This forum is still the best source of information I have found, so I thought I’d share some more of my story. I have never been diagnosed with MC and I know my symptoms are not as severe as many on this board, but it...

@lyn - you make a very good point, attitude is very important and its easy to go overboard with this stuff. It sounds like you have a very balanced approach. My buying habits were much the same as yours before I left the US, and if it werent for meeting my wife I would probably still be doing the sa...

Very good points again, Im really enjoying this thread. I must admit, it has taken quite a different turn than I expected. Again, I could type all day on this subject. Instead I will reaffirm my book suggestion above for those who may not be familiar with it. There really is no need to be suspicious...

Wow... awesome discussion, right up my alley, Im thoroughly impressed. As polly indicated, Im also convinced that gut bacteria is the basis for most digestive diseases. Once again, I am indebted to Tex, Polly and others on this board for my further enlightenment, Thank you all. Educated bacteria - t...

2 celiacs 1 cup
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/13/science/13micro.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all Thought this article might be of interest. The whole bacterial infection theory makes a lot of sense to me, for example the reasoning behind the SCD diet. The technique might be a little extreme, but if it works..... &quo...

I received a response from enterolab, they apologised profusely, and told me that a computer glitch caused the wrong explanation, and that the result values are indeed correct. @Marybeth That is indeed an interesting comment from Dr.Fine. From the enterolab site: ' However, the amount of antibody pr...

My Enterolab results
Thought I would share my test results as this board was a determining factor in deciding to go with enterolab. Also, I dont understand them. Specifically it seems to me that the Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA result and the explanation are in conflict. If the result is correct and the explanation wrong, I g...

Great thread. With so much mis and dis information it can be a real challenge make any kind of informed decision. Not to mention all the so called doctors out there that only seem to care about the size of their egos and wallets. Above is the best explanation I have heard for why Dr.Fine is not publ...
