Re: Major breakthrough for diet non-responder: low stomach acid (THANK YOU Laine!)

Thank you so much Marta! No one but us could understand how truly unpleasant this disease is, and how much work it is to conquer. My advice for you is to keep working through various possibilities via process of elimination. Assuming you're following all the guidelines and have given them a decent a...

Major breakthrough for diet non-responder: low stomach acid (THANK YOU Laine!)

Hello my dear MC friends, After years of trying to control MC, I have had a total breakthrough and needed to share in case it could help someone else. I have been struggling to get my MC into remission, despite dutifully following all the guidelines here. For over a year now since receiving my Enter...

Re: Pregnancy and MC

Thanks as always for your guidance and thoughtful responses, Tex. Yes, I have used Cholestyramine to test out the BAM hypothesis in the past but I think it was only about 4 weeks after an unfortunate glutening incident, so perhaps that hampered its efficacy. I'll try again (I still have the packets)...

Pregnancy and MC

Hi folks, I (34 year old female) have been struggling to get my MC into remission. Since last September when I received my Enterolab results, I have been following healing recommendations and have strictly cut out all foods indicated by the test, avoided eating out like the plague (I bring home-cook...

Re: Very limited progress...advice needed

Hi Amy! Yes, I do strength training twice a week with a train and hot yoga once a week, plus 10K steps per day. With the classic MC fatigue, that's all I can manage. I haven't been on budesonide, since it just masks the symptoms, and the vast majority of people using it relapse as soon as they stop....

Re: Recommendations for GF/SF personal care items (makeup, lotions, SPF, etc.)

Hi Jane! Thanks for your response. Yes, you should try to avoid almond oil if that's a trigger for you, just in case your fingers touch your mouth, as we so often do unconsciously. Jojoba oil is a really nice alternative, it is very similar to the oils your skin naturally produces and it sinks in ve...

Re: Recommendations for GF/SF personal care items (makeup, lotions, SPF, etc.)

Hi Tex! I have, thank you for the link. Most of those discussions are fairly dated and companies tend to reformulate their products every few years, so was hoping for some more recent recommendations...

Recommendations for GF/SF personal care items (makeup, lotions, SPF, etc.)

With so many of us on a strict gluten and soy-free diet, I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations to share for personal care items that don't contain either. There are so many ingredients in which soy can hide (glycerin, tocopherols, etc), so it'd be great to share knowledge on some of the produc...

Re: Very limited progress...advice needed

Thank you Marcia! Yes, oats are a big no-no for me as well. The only baking I've been doing is with grains like millet and non-grains like coconut and cassava, but perhaps it would be wise to cut those out too for a while and see how she goes. I'll certainly check out that cookbook, I appreciate the...

Re: Very limited progress...advice needed

Thank you for your reply Wayne. That's what I suspected. Sigh. A lesson in patience and perseverance I guess. I'm trying to find things to be positive about in this whole mess, and one of the things that I think about frequently is how lucky we are in this day and age to be able to find such niche c...

Very limited progress...advice needed

Hi folks, For the last two months, I've been on a mission to cut out all triggers (per Enterolab testing) and get my poor stomach into remission. I've been strictly avoiding gluten (of course, celiac), dairy, eggs, soy and legumes, chicken, corn, oats, almonds, walnuts... everything indicated by my ...

Not your typical MC/celiac patient: being overweight + inflammation

Hi folks! I wanted to touch on a topic I haven't seen discussed here much. Unlike the typical celiac or MC patient, I have never been underweight. Quite the opposite — I've always had 15 or 20 pounds that were hard to shift despite being active and in a calorie deficit. In the past, the worse my sym...

Re: Enterolab results + recovery diet questions

An update for anyone else who is looking for a non-legume, non-dairy protein powder to use in smoothies — this pumpkin seed protein powder is great, it's gluten and additive-free. Bonus: pumpkin seeds are incredibly high in magnesium and it's nice to get it in a food form as an addition to magnesium...

Oh and I'm also wondering — if I react to corn, is it still possible to have corn starch? As I understand it, corn starch contains almost no protein or fibre...
