Re: Einkorn - An Ancient Grain

Tex, I'd like the quote from your book. My husband, who is gluten intolerant due to headaches, bought Jovial brand Einkorn flour and cookies and has been tolerating them fine. He and his mother (also gluten intolerant with ME) made their own pizzas with it and both were fine. Neither has celiac gene...

Re: LC and Mastocytic Enterocolitis -- what next?

Ok, Tex, I'm going for it! Cholestyramine all the way!! Polly is advising me on dosing. I have a big tub of the flavor-free plain stuff. It's expired, but I doubt it matters?

Re: LC and Mastocytic Enterocolitis -- what next?

My GI said Cholestyramine is not a treatment or cure, it just helps with symptoms. She really wants me to try Budesonide, starting briefly at 9 mg and tapering down, and says it has the potential to treat and stop the MC. I had cited the high risk of relapse. I plan to discuss it with my dermatologi...

LC and Mastocytic Enterocolitis -- what next?

Hi all! It's been a while! I've been in maintenance mode, still with D, but manageable for many years. I'm still GF/DF/SF and now egg free (although I still eat eggs in baked goods). I miss them terribly, although I just experimented with duck eggs and did OK. I had my first colonoscopy since...

Hi Tex! I'm doing pretty well, still in my THC clinical trial (2 years), which really helps the MC and food reactions. I get bloodwork every 2 months for the clinical trial, and it's always normal (except for low lymphocytes and signs of hypoglycemia). I can be near passing out with 85/54 blood pres...

D in MC is caused by inability to absorb sodium??

I was checking out the latest medical literature on MC in eMedicine/Medscape, and was surprised to learn that the actual cause of the watery D is thought to be lack of sodium absorption in the colon, leading to water secretion into the colon! This is new to me!! As someone with very low blood pressu...

I'm starting to think about mold sensitivity as one of my issues. I've had aspergillus growing in an unvented utility room in my basement. I've tried charcoal tabs but it gives me a tummy ache. No issues with bentonite clay but only tried it a coupe of times. I do well with Pepto Bismol tabs and I w...

This may be applicable to my mom!

Interesting thread Tex! I'm in the process of bringing my mom to the US from Centra America for confirmatory diagnosis of drug-induced Parkinson's. My mom developed insomnia and anxiety after dealing with nerve injuries from botched herniated disk surgery 2 years ago, but she developed severe depres...

I have Amyopathic Dermatomyositis, which causes multiple characteristic pink/red/violet rashes on the knuckles, chest, back, outer thighs, face, eyes, etc. One disease manifestation is called Mechanic's Hands, because they peel at the edges of the fingers and on the palms. This is typically associat...

I'm also in a bizarre spontaneous remission from my LC. First one in 7 years! It hasn't been bad recently, just 2-3 D per day, but I clearly have some obvious dysbiosis going on (malodorous, sometimes orange), which I treat with probiotics with varying degrees of success. I should mention I'm also i...

Might be total coincidence, but the locations you describe are precisely where my Dermatomyositis skin rashes appear the most: shoulders, buttocks, hips, knuckles. But they don't come and go like hives, my rash is always with me, just varies in severity and itch.

This is the best explanation of why my DM has stayed confined to my skin and my gut (LC) for 12 years! EBV is my presumed trigger, since I had mono in my teens, it reactivates from time to time, and I have crazy high antibody titers to it. "As well as changing the immune system in a ‘whole-body...

Any thoughts on SYSTEMIC enzymes, as opposed to Digestive enzymes? I just started taking them this weekend with high hopes that they'll continue to reduce my systemic/autoimmune inflammation causing severe skin rashes and occasional joint inflammation. It seems they are recommended for people at ris...

Hi guys! Thought I would share I'm in a clinical trial for a new drug, Anabasum, which is synthetic, non-psychoactive THC. I take 20 mgs twice a day for Dermatomyositis skin rashes, but it's actually helped the MC more than my skin. Not dramatically, but I realized how much it helped when I had to g...

My son gets light-induced migraines from movies, video games, laser tag, etc. I recently bought him tinted glasses made specifically for migraine sufferers and he can now do those activities without worry. I find them very soothing too, as I get mild ocular migraines from too much fluorescent light ...
