Hi Vanessa,

I really haven't noticed any improvement when supplementing with HCL. Are you still doing well on it?

Mayo was a bust for me (#1/2 for GI in US depending on poll). They basically said visceral hypersensitivity and they likely could not help me. They didn't seem very personable either. I felt like I was directing them. Dr Hull and Dr Garg at Cleveland Clinic (#1/2 depending for GI in US depending on ...

Hi Vanessa, Thanks for the response. About how long does it take for you to notice a substantial improvement from HCL supplementation? And regarding the tests I have completed (too many to recount anymore), the only one that might make sense, for both of us at this point, is the Heidelberg test for ...

Hi Vanessa,

How do you dose your HCL supplements? I have read a lot about these and just started trying them. How long does it take for your symptoms to usually abate? Have you tried drinking apple cider vinegar? Seems to be a lot of talk about that as well.

Your lack of natural hunger pangs sounds suspiciously familiar, Tex. I think the radio-labelled egg test that I had for gastroparesis, and reportedly passed, evaluates just one small part of the digestive process. My problem "feels" more systemic and involved, and sadly, progressive. The o...

Thanks Tex, I have been reading much about HCL tonight. Going to start supplementing each meal to evaluate the difference. Short of this, I really don't know what else to try. As I have been on a higher protein diet, it makes sense the my stomach need more help in the digestion department. This prob...

Hi Tex!!! So good to hear from you. I am always thrilled to have Professor/Fellow Engineer Tex on my case! I have just recently started playing with Betaine HCL and have recently read articles about people who drink apple cider vinegar to achieve the same result. The SCDLifestyle site has some good ...

Jim, I have a theory that all of this acidic, loose stool movement through our systems sets some of us up to spasm, tension, contraction, whatever. A pelvic floor dysfunction. They say I have PFD in addition to MC. I also feel I have loss of some sensation too. Your Coccyx pain is a telltale sign of...

Update on me... Need Opinions

Hello my friends (Tex, Polly, Gabes, Joe, anyone else I have missed)... The last time I checked in I was describing my chronic bloating and distention problems and the twisting pain in my sternum that is so much worse after I eat, and lasts for several hours.. Well since my last visit, I have had a ...

I use Michael Mahoney's CD's for Hypnotherapy for IBS for stress reduction and relaxation. I know that we don't have IBS per se, but his calming voice and long sessions are very relaxing and relevant to all of us. I especially like using them when I fly (with a good set of noise canceling headphones...

Thanks Tex,

Looks like I will need to request a barium swallow test. Zebra and not a horse. So true. My GI doc calls it the "algorithm". If one doesn't fit the algorithm, they don't know what else to do.

Thanks for the replies. How do they diagnose a hiatal hernia? I thought the endoscopy would see something like that? Thx

Paging Polly, Tex, Gabe, others - Deep pain centered in ches

Need some ideas for pain in my chest not related to heart (had full workup) and no ulcer (had endoscopy). It is a deep pain that feels warm to hot, and extends deep into my chest right below my sternum. Feels like internal pressure too. Lots of loud gurgling noises (and vibration feeling) when happe...

Hi Vanessa, My experience with Mayo was mixed. It seems when you find a place that claims (brags) to know more than the rest, it seems they actually know less (or at least are not open to "outside of the box" thinking). My impression of Mayo is that I was more informed than my doctors, whi...

MTHFR Tex? Never heard of it but will be Googling it for sure next. Deb, Life's up and downs... That's a good way to describe it.
