On VSL#3 now - any advice on taking?

Hi All, My GI and nutritionist agree that I need to try VSL#3 - they gave me a whole bunch of samples - I am on 2/day. It said on the outside of the carton holding them - to mix with cold water, juice or yogurt etc. Do I open the capsules? I know that sounds like a dumb question - but I am clueless!...

Back again - finally seeing some improvement!

Hello All, i just finished my xifaxan and cipro (for another bladder infection). I did not see much improvement until I made some drastic dietary changes this week. We lovingly call this the Dirt and Rocks Diet! lol I started with taking out dairy - cheese is my best friend. Then I went thru my list...

Joe, So glad you are feeling better - that must have been so frightening! Especially the needle in the eye - I don't think I could ever handle that - they'd have to knock me out first! How fast it all progressed for you - yikes! Two weeks ago I had an itch in my eye, I just thought I got some dust i...

Hi Lisa, I just got off xifaxin - I did not have any negative side effects, I was also on Cipro for 7 days too, but I didn't feel much of a difference, but then again, my eating wasn't the best, I was kind of testing it! I was eating a lot of cheese, yogurt etc. I was eating lots of spicy foods etc!...

From what I read, you do cook your meats etc. It's the fruits and veggies that are raw, add nuts and seeds - sprouted. I am sure it would be harsh for now, but something that was interesting. THanks so much! T

Anyone been on a Raw Food Diet?

Just curious. I have a friend who put their whole family on a raw food diet - some of her children were having issues with tonsils etc, her dh is doing his residency and saw way too many tonsilectomies. They are totally off dairy too. Just wondering what others think and have tried. Thanks! Theresa ...

Okay another question:

to Gabes, Polly and Marek -

what are some examples of a soothing diet? a low fiber diet - is that like a low-residue?

Thanks!

You all are so amazing and so supportive! I really appreciate it! I have a friend that is big into nutrition and the more holistic approach - she and I are going to have a chat this afternoon! Well, to add to my issues, I need to see my regular Dr., because I probably have another bladder infection,...

Hi All, I've been on the Anti-depressants since November or so, same time I started the Apriso, my GI put me on both. Before then I wasn't on any meds other than Potassium and birth control pills. I have D for over 8 yrs - Celiac diagnosis since 2003. MC diagnosis since Aug 2010. I am in Southern Ma...

Hi Zizzle, I just started the Xifaxan last week - I am on a 2 week sprint - 3x a day. I see the other GI on the 10th, as well as the dietician. We will see, but I'm ready to just wean myself off the meds and just get on with my life. lol. I know even my GI and dietician don't agree on the use of pro...

I feel so overwhelmed... I don't know where to turn...

Hello All, After reading some of the posts, I am getting more frustrated - not with the posters, but my GI docs. I just feel like I am getting worse and not better. I've tried to adjust my diet - still no relief. It seems like the more I do to help, the more I see my GI, or DO - the worse I get. I h...

Hello All, I am so glad I found this message. Original Polly - thanks for what you said about the string beans and tomatoes - which I couldn't figure out why they were issues for me - other than the fact that I tested positive for them 2 years ago - which was mostly due to leaky gut. I had no idea t...

Xifaxan - anyone tried it? I'm on it

Hello All, I have not been on this board for a while. I hope all is well with you folks! My GI has now put me on Xifaxan - I take it 3x a day. I am still on Apriso. I feel very bloated. My D has not stopped. I was eating way too much dairy for a while that I'm sure that hasn't helped. I had been try...

This is rather late - but, I've been off and on the SCD diet. You do need to start with the Intro Diet - it helps to clear out the bad yeast/bacteria stuff. Then you can slowly add more foods - you don't have to do the Intro more than 2 days probably, although the full 5 may be best. I could just ne...
