Re: Eating out at a high end restaurant
Tex, Thank you for your response. As always, your answers are so helpful and make perfect sense. A quick update: I have been doing well. Still GF, but do eat eggs and dairy in moderation. Sometimes I have an "off" day, but mostly not. I think acupuncture has helped immensely. I have been o...

Eating out at a high end restaurant
Hello all, I was eating out at a very nice restaurant on Newberry St. in Boston yesterday. The waitress informed me they had a lot of gluten free items. I asked if the french fries were cooked in a dedicated fryer and she said yes. One of my friends (who is not gluten free but has family members who...

Tex, They didn't replace it with a diuretic. My PCP had added a diuretic for my BP two weeks prior and my GI was taking me off the Imuran when I landed in the hospital. The doctors in the ER took away both meds and I have remained off of both for the last 6 months. They said it is possible that both...

Update for Tex
Tex, I did get an email from Daba and we corresponded a few times. Just an update for you. I took Imuran for many years without side effects. It helped so much. I was able to drop down to 50 mg then to 25 mg. I was beginning to take it only a few days a week and ready to stop taking it in late 2019....

Hi everyone, Lots of great information. I have a smoothie every day and think I may try adding collagen powder. I can see reading this where we all have different reactions to supplements. I have been taking saccharomyces boulardii since I was at the beginning stages of explosive diarrhea about 6 ye...

Collagen peptides
Hi Monique, I was wondering if you were still taking collagen peptides? My hair is shedding and arthritis is a bit bothersome and I was thinking a little in my daily smoothie might be a good thing. My granddaughter takes Vitals Protein collagen peptides. I have been on Imuran for years and decided t...

Hi Jeanne, I am so sorry that you are going through this, but hopefully you will get it under control. It sounds like Lisa has given you good information about a good doctor in the Boston area. I live 40 miles northwest of Boston and see a doctor in Nashua who I like very much. I had lost a lot a we...

Susanne, A few months ago I had a problem with constipation, which I have only had twice since being diagnosed. My GI sent me to a physical therapist who's specialty is the colon. She would do gentle massages, release scar tissue, etc. I learned so much about the colon from her even the correct way ...

Lisa, I was just reading this thread with great interest. I am the Nancyl that goes to Dr. Nagri in Nashua, NH and live about 40 miles west of Boston. I like my GI a lot, but like with others does not advise about food intolerances. I have done that on my own with the help of this forum. I know it's...

Susanne, So sorry to hear about your MC troubles. It is hard to get under control, but is possible. Of course I cheated and took budesonide, when the D was a bit under control my doctor switched me to Imuran. I am still on it, but the lowest dose possible and may be off of it in another month. I jus...

Hello everyone, Very interesting subject. Whenever I buy a rotisserie chicken I make bone broth with celery, carrots, onions, and fresh seasonings, then strain and freeze for soup. I don't make soup that often, just in the winter so I am not getting the collagen needed. Although, I do just like sipp...

Thank you for the kind words, Erica. And, Marcia, thank you for that tip. I always forget about epsom salts. It helps so many different ailments. As I increase my acacia things are getting better. That is good for both D and C. I have also been taking magnesium Glycinate, it seems to agree with me. ...

Hello everyone, I have been a member for many years, but not active for a long time. I was doing really well, but ran into a problem about four weeks ago. Surprisingly C and not D. My GI's PA just wanted me to take some Magnesium Citrate and call it a day. Well, I was so bad that I did take the sugg...
