Is there a connection between y. enterocolitica and LC?
I was diagnosed with LC in 2008, ruptured appendix in July 2012 and diagnosed with Graves' in August 2012. In doing some research on thyrotoxicosis (Graves') I found that there may be a connection to Graves and then saw that there is something called "para"appendicitis as a result of y. en...

Deviating slightly, yesterday on Dr. Oz, they were discussing that too much lactose (3-4 servings of dairy a day) could possibly be contributing significantly to ovarian (and other) cancer risk. Got me to thinking in that, along with many here, I'm lactose intolerant. I have used the enzymes to help...

LOL OMG your 2nd GI doc sounds like the 1st one I had and she was a woman. She was the most unempathetic person I have ever met, rude as hell, and completely out of the loop for treatment. I have said since day one of my MC starting that I would never wish this terrible disease on anyone but by the...

AntiLC said: I can't ask him the questions you suggested Gayle since I have no intention of ever seeing him again. Well darn, then we will never know what this Doc really meant, or how he would define colitis! I am repeating myself here --I realize --- but when you are given an information sh...

Despite the fact that my first Gastro discovered the LC, she is also the one who neglected to tell me that was the source of the problem and not the gallbladder she initially diagnosed and which was subsequently removed for no particularly good reason. This second one doesn't seem like much of a pri...

LC is not an IBD?
During the CT for my ruptured appendix, they found a "hypoechoic" lesion on my liver that needed to be checked out. I saw a new Gastro as a result. On the initial paperwork, I checked that I had an IBD, referring to LC. He told me that was not an IBD, he said it's just another variation of...

I am, for the most part, in LC remission. However, the one thing that seems to stimulate my colon and make it sensitive like in the days when the LC was most active is coffee. On the flipside, when I was in the hospital after surgery for a ruptured appendix and the motility all but not existent, cof...

T, I can't begin to tell you how much your knowledge and compassion have helped to sooth this rapidly beating heart. I met with the endo doc today and with information you provided and some research on my own I was able to ask the questions I needed to and I believe very much what you said to be tru...

I also have Graves disease. It's a mild form (called subclinical) so it may not be helpful to compare, but I found (after going through an adjustment period that I would be happy to tell you about if you wish, but which is probably too complicated to write in detail in this post), that I do very we...

Two other things: 1) I got Graves BEFORE lymphocytic colitis, so it's not certain that the Graves comes FROM the LC in all cases. This might help you to feel better about how you came up with this . . . it might not have been the meds. It might have just been in the genes. Who knows the causes, but...

Thank you all so much for your kind words, information and suggestions. It appears that my endo wants to start me on antithyroid meds. On one hand, if the possibility exists that I can go into remission this is the only real way to give me that chance as the other two methods are permanent. There ar...

I originally joined in 2008, lost my user name and rejoined in 2011. You all were amazing support when I got the LC diagnosis and were tremendous walking me through a very tough time. My LC went into remission in 2010 but then I began having other problems, that while not Celiac, were resolved when ...
