This is good to hear. I've been taking cholestyramine since about a year after my gallbladder surgery, and it's been the only thing that shocks my system out of a CC flare. I'm allergic to mold--I'm glad I'm taking something that helps that too!

MC is a forever condition that can be controlled by STRICT diet, but that seems to recur whenever your system finds something new to react to. It changes and each individual is different. Yesterday, I received the new Family Circle October edition, which has an article about ulcerative colitis. I wa...

Thanks, you guys! When nobody else understands (or sometimes even believes what we're going through and feeling), we can always count on each other!

Well, I've had more blood work after seeing a nephrologist. My kidney values are slightly better (the GFR is no longer dropping), so that's good news. But the interesting thing was that my B-12 was over 1800, when normal values are 200-900. Gabes is right about methylation issues, I think--I must be...

Thanks, Polly, that makes me feel a bit better. I'm only taking a multivitamin supplement now, and I think I'll stick with just that, unless the doctors tell me otherwise. And I'll work toward more hydration (that was what they told me, too.) I appreciate the moral support, everybody!

Thanks, Gabes and Tex!

I'll continue to research this, and read up on methylation issues. You're right, Tex, it's always something! (And yes, I should have been told earlier.)

Does anyone here with MC also have Chronic Kidney Disease?

Hi, all! This has been an eventful week for me! My new PCP ordered blood work at my 6-month checkup, and I got a phone call a couple of days later, saying that my chronic kidney disease had progressed from level 2 to level 3. I didn't even know I had kidney disease! I spoke to the doctor himself lat...

I ordered your book, too, Tex, from Amazon, and I've read it already. Very eye-opening! Now we just need our doctors to get on board!

I just used Daiya cheddar for the first time and made macaroni and cheese with brown rice pasta and almond milk. It tasted like the real thing! Expensive, though.

Tex,
Thanks for the reply--I'll try reducing my meds use and see what happens. I've noticed that stomach gurgling is lessened with Questran, but I hadn't thought about the cramps being caused by it!

I've been having painful cramps and bloating lately, too. I take antihistamines daily and use digestive enzymes and Questran when the D gets really bad. For a while I had avoided the pain, so I don't know what has changed. My diet is so restricted it's hard to figure out what could possibly be messi...

Tex, I would've messed up that experiment with the bananas and peaches. The bananas cause oral allergy syndrome for me (my mouth goes to sleep) and the peaches would've caused excessive gas. I just learned this the other day when I made what I thought was safe (for me) sorbet with just frozen peache...

I take MultiVites Adult Gummy multivitamins. No gluten, dairy, or soy. I get them at Sam's Club, but they're available at most pharmacies.

Horchata is basically rice milk, like you buy in cartons here in the states. In Mexico, they add condensed milk, sugar, and cinnamon, but just the basic rice and water pulverized in a blender is the base. It hasn't bothered me, but then, I don't have it very often. It's good stuff!

Sport, I feel your pain! I can have eggs, and butter but not milk or cream, but I agree that soy is everywhere. I have an actual allergy, not just an intolerance, to soy, so I have to be careful about even GF foods. Schar breads and Van waffles, etc., seem to all contain soy. And it hides in crazy t...
