Policosinol.....anybody tried it?
A while back I bought some One A Day multivitamins, which now seem to come in many formulas, Womens, Mens, Seniors, etc etc. I bought the one labeled Cholesterol Plus. It contains policosinol. I am not big on herbs, etc. at all. Didn't expect anything special to happen. Within a couple of days, amaz...

Diet help needed!
Hi Tex, yes I do have concerns about meat and cholesterol. My total number is 240 but my HDL is very high, LDL not so great and triglycerides not too great. Still, the ratio is good....and I have tried Lipitor with muscle pain so couldn't take it. I scanned over some literature on Paleo, and had ham...

Shirley, I had a torn meniscus in my knee a couple years ago, and had arthroscopic surgery. It wasn't that bad, and afterward the recovery involved some physical therapy, and it seems good as new now. Took about a year to get as good as new. I tore mine in a fall. I was trying to dig a hole in hard ...

Thanks, Tex for the suggestion about giving up soy for a while. Many years ago I had tested for reactions to various foods (blood test) don't know what the test was called...it came back with high numbers against bananas, eggs, clams and tea. I have been using soy milk for calcium and also to put on...

Hi Joanna, I live in Wadena, MN which is between Aitkin and Fergus Falls. So far, I have never met anyone who had these unique health problems, except on the internet. In addition to staying GF, I am going to try an elimination diet, of sorts. This website is sooo helpful, and I am feeling like I wa...

Mild irritation?
I am happy to read the recent postings regarding diagnosing folks with CD symptoms who after having small intestine biopsies, don't get a definitive diagnosis of CD due to findings of "only" mild irritative response with normal architectural structure. I just had endoscopy with biopsies an...

GF Bargains!
I just discovered gluten-free foods on Amazon.com in their grocery section. I had been paying an arm and a leg for Mesa Sunrise cereal, including big shipping, and here I find the same product for much much less, plus no shipping! Also Gluten-Free Pantry foods and many others. Such a deal!

Calcium sources when GF/CF?
Today I started back on the GF diet and because I get so miserable from dairy, bloated, D, rapid pulse after drinking milk, I am wondering if I am also casein sensitive. What would be some good food sources of calcium to get the 1500 mg per day, other than pills? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are only Celiacs gluten sensitive?
Thanks for all your warm welcomes. The years that I was GF I remember not having the constant heartburn. Actually, when I wasn't GF, I had it so bad I sat up in bed to sleep! It only took a couple days of GF to make a big difference. When I mentioned going GF again, the other half looked like grim d...

Are only Celiacs gluten sensitive?
I am a newbie to this site. For the past five years I have followed the GF diet because it practically eliminated the Big D which attacked me in 2001. Nothing else helped. I did this without any doctor recommending it. I did have blood tests for Celiac which were normal, except for IGG? of 78 which ...
