New Update... GI doc took me off the apriso completely. He has me taking 4 daily Asacol HD's only (no more Amodium AD). For the past two weeks I have been having just 1 bowel movement every OTHER day and it's NEVER soft. My Family Practitioner has completely stopped my cholesterol and blood pressure...

Thanks everyone! I realize it was a bit unconventional and I almost backed out of it after reading all of the advise here not to do it. But I weighed all my options and felt that even if it didn't help my MC at least I would be healthier with the weight loss. I really haven't grasped why a smaller s...

Thank you, I kind of had doubts about it helping the MC but am very happy with the results.

Bariatric Surgery Update

I just wanted to provide an update on how I am doing after my vertical sleeve procedure. Before surgery I was taking 6 Apriso ER's, 4 Asacol HD's and 6 imodium AD per day and still had runny poop 4-6 times a day. Since my surgery on the 18th of July, I have cut down my medication to 2 Apriso's and 2...

Next month I start a bariatric diet I will have most of my stomach removed next month. After that I will be on an (almost) 100% protein diet. Don't know for sure but I am told that may help my LC. However my main reason for surgury is to loose 100 lbs. I suppose you've encountered quite a few peopl...

 Doctors (as a whole--not necessarily yours or mine) are more like mechanics nowadays. High blood pressure or high cholesterol? Take a pill. Cancer? Chemo or radiation. MC? It's a minor inconvenience, and it will resolve itself in a few months. T4 and TSH in range? You don't have a thyroid pr...

Bariatric Surgery and MC- Is this wise?

I have been planning this gastric sleeve surgery (removing 3/4 of my stomach) for almost as long as I've been diagnosed with LC. My goal with this procedure is to loose 100-120 lbs. All of you know how bad it is to be 100 lbs overweight. My knees and ankles, hurt, I have high blood pressure, high ch...

Welcome and love your moniker! Defitinely different and wonder how it came about. There is a wealth of knowledge her so please search through the site. Entocort is a great drug but one I cannot use due to side effects. I never gained an ounce on it but with this disease we all act differently. Look...

I was one of the unlucky few who had side effects with entocort. While it worked well with apriso, I couldn't take the side effects or the cost.

Medication Only

After causally browsing the forum, I have to ask a quick question. Is there anyone here (like me) who treats their LC with medication alone?
