Well, I guess their are different levels of "in control" just like there might be different definitions of success. After going off of Entocort in early December, I did not have D, but wouldn't describe things as 100% solid. So I was definitely not flaring, but had mushy stool about once p...

Gluten free not work for anyone?

Has anyone gone gluten free and had it NOT work to control their MC? I have been gluten free for 7 months, dairy free for 5 months, and egg, soy, oat, and beef free for 4. I also cut out bananas (I am allergic to kiwi and I guess they are in the same family). As discussed above, I did a one week glu...

So I have been eating 2 mini bagels for breakfast for the last couple days. I also ate 5 or 6 chocolate chip cookies each of the first 2 days (which would have small amounts of dairy and egg, and maybe soy). No change in symptoms. As a matter of fact, I actually feel better than normal (but my job i...

adding back gluten

I have LC and have been gluten free for 6 months. I have also been soy, dairy, and egg free for a number of months. I have also tried the Pepto treatment (8 tablets/day for 8 weeks) and completed a 2 month course of Entocort about a month ago. My LC has improved, but is certainly not cured. By this ...

I guess I don't know if I have MC or CC. I asked the doctor who diagnosed me, and he just pretty much said "they are basically the same thing."

bone stock and bone meal powder and Jell-O

While my stools are not completely solid, my life is pretty much back to normal. Through diet, probiotics, and one tablet of Entocort a day I am basically regular. I will experiment to figure out if one, or a combination of all 3 of the treatments is the main reason for my improvement. That said, I ...

Thanks for your replies. 2 follow up questions: 1. Tex you said "once my sensitivity matured" What do you mean by that? 2. It looks like I should NOT assume that I can not eat other red meats just because I tested reactive to beef (sorry for the double negative). In other words, I should f...

I am not sure I understand your answers. The verbatim writing in my test results was as follows for Panel C: Food toward which you displayed most immunologic reactivity: Oat, Beef Food for which there was no significant immunologic reactivity: Chicken, Tuna, Cashew, Walnut, Pork, Corn, Almond, Rice,...

Enterolab Panel C question

I recently received my results for panels A + C from Enterolab. Numeric results were presented for gluten, casein, egg, and milk (and I was reactive to those 4 items, with numeric results above 10). I also tested reactive to beef and oats. Thus I have a few questions: 1. If I had an immunological re...

soybean oil

I recently tested reactive to soy in the Enterolab tests. I have seen some references that state "highly refined soybean oil is not an allergen" and have seen similar statements about soy lechithin. Unfortunately soybean oil seems to be in even more things than gluten. My understanding is ...

Thanks for your responses. I am pretty sure milk is the culprit, and I think the gene test is just for gluten, so not sure how much the gene test will help.

I just wanted to check for all food sensitivities to be sure.

opinion on Enterolab?

I have LC and have been gluten free for about 2 months and on the paleo diet for about 2 weeks. The gluten free diet didn't seem to be working, but the paleo diet (only meat, fruits, and vegetables) is. I really think my issue is dairy (and really hope it is not anything else). What is people's opin...

Pepto vs gluten free

According to Dr Kenneth Fine's website with respect to MC and the 8 tablets of Pepto per day for 8 weeks: "Pepto Bismol will relieve diarrhea in 90% and resolve the colitis on biopsies in about 80%, 20-30% experience relapses after they stop the medicine, and 10% do not respond initially."...

Pepto and ear ringing

I have been on a gluten free (or mostly gluten free diet for about 1 month) and have been taking 8 pepto bismol tablets a day for about 2.5 weeks. My MC was never severe relative to what some on this site report, and the gluten free / pepto treatment is working well. I am not sure if it is the glute...

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

I recognize y'all are not attorneys, but anyone know anything about how MC is viewed under the ADA? I am worried that, if I am unable to travel 2-3 days a week and entertain clients (primarily b/c of the gluten free diet), I will be unable to perform my job as well as others. I am 41 years old, and ...
