I have had this pain and it does feel like it is cardiac in origin. The doctor's think it is PVCs but I did have a fairly normal echocardiogram. I have oesophageal dysmotility caused I think by eosinophilic oesophagitis but the docs never seem to relate this to my food allergies. The oesophagus coul...

What is effective for treating a recurring Candida problem? I have had scopes where I had oesophageal candida and also am sensitive to bakers yeast and do really well on anti-fungal drugs but can't keep getting prescribed them. I want to know a good protocol and supplement for dealing with candida w...

Hi Tex

Are the lymphocytes involved in LC definitely T Cells? Do you know what sub-type of T Cells are seen most i.e CD4, CD8? I always wondered what type of lymphocytes were amassing in colon and small bowel.

Thank you

And in research dating back to 1984 (2 years before I got mono!), they discovered that the Epstein Barr virus can cause the body to create autoantibodies to smooth muscle (my highest one!) , thyroid, stomach, pancreas and nerves! Smooth muscle antibody is mostly indicated in autoimmune hepatitis, a...

I'm another one with sunsensitivity on the face arms and upper body. I tend to go very red and a few days later the dry top layer of skin is coming off but it is not like conventional sunburn. I get hives and itchiness too. I read that it is IgE mediated and I have a lot++ of IgE floating around but...

Jean Has anyone looked at smooth muscle functioning or Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibodies (ASMA) in your case? All the organ systems you mention are supported and surrounded by smooth muscle tissue, particularly the bladder, reproductive system and uterus, also the intestines and blood vessels and even t...

Yes, it is a shame some of Dr Wakefield's practice tainted some of the good work that the Inflammatory Bowel Disease unit at The Royal Free Hospital did. On the linked paper there were lead authors who looked at autism and gastroenterological and immunological disturbances but this gets steamrollere...

The link between autism, gastrointestinal immunopathology and the MMR vaccine became a bit of a cause celebre and then a witch-hunt of the doctor's who published the paper in the UK. They had seen a number of children with autism who had a lymphocyte predominant lesion in their gut. Here is a long l...

I read that paper by Dr Hamilton and colleagues with great interest. Had to keep reading the abbreviation MC as Mast Cell though and not Microscopic Colitis! I've also read a fascinating article on histamine, mast cells and the enteric nervous system here http://gut.bmj.com/content/55/4/445.full The...

I've been a bit worried by my liver enzymes and had raised Gamma GT. I drink a bit but not to the point of getting a buzz. My ASMA was borderline. Maybe gluten has been thrashing my liver as well as my guts. My ANA is normal though.

Thanks Tex, that was a great link to Dr Hadjvassiliou's paper on gluten and neurological disease. Quite unnerving when you read it and think of the implications. It puts me in mind of Cycads and Guam Dementia which have arisen in Guam because people eat mashed up seeds from Cycad trees and over a lo...

I think it shows that some researchers are prepared to go to more scrupulous and methodical lengths to find out what is really causing people such misery with so-called 'benign' IBS. This could become something of a landmark study if other centres can repeat their results as the Ohio state researche...
