Polly - I am so sorry! Your brother is indeed blessed to have you. I hope that you and your brother will have some happy times during this difficult time. I too share the stress gut reaction. I will pray that you have some peaceful moments during this terrible time.

Big hugs,
Denise

Oh Polly, how hard this must be for you. As a physician I know you know what is coming and I think that sometimes makes it even harder. I am praying that the stars line up for your brother and that the insurance and stent go smoothly so he can transition to your house.

Love,

Mary Beth

That really stinks Polly, so sorry to hear the news. My mother-in-law just underwent surgery for pancreatic CA. She was very lucky to have given blood, it tested positive for Hep C, she had an ultrasound which found the mass and had surgery 2 weeks later. They removed the entire middle of her panaceas and sewed it back together. She has 3 remaining tumors that had spread to her liver which she will hopefully be able to overcome. Cancer is a nasty nasty thing, my mom was taken by breast CA and my dad has lung CA. Treasure every moment you have!

Dear Polly,
Everything has already been said but I wanted to post. I tried yesterday and just couldn't do it. A good friend of Bill's (and mine) passed away from the same thing about 6 months before I lost Bill.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your brother.

Polly,

I'm so sorry to read about your brother. He and you will both benefit from your taking care of him during this time. It will be difficult, but it will be a tender bonding time. My prayers will be with you both.

Dear Polly,

I just returned from celebrating the life of my 94 year old Aunt who passed late last week. I understand the pain of watching a loved one make that passage from this life to the next. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Your Brother

Post by Lucy »

Polly,

I am so sorry to hear about your brother's misfortune. Haven't been around much lately, even since my mother passed, but I will be available to you...anytime you need an ear...for ANY reason, OK?

Will try to leave my other contact information in your message box here, just in case you no longer have it.

As so many here have told me through the years, don't forget to take care of YOU as well.
I hope your GI sxs will get under control soon and stay that way.

Please be in touch as you can.

Love, Luce

I dont know what to say Polly except I admire you for reaching out to your brother. I will pray that you and he are both in peace as you look after him.

I too channel my stress into GI. I am also dealing with some personal problems this week that are stessing my GI.

Will be thinking about you.

Hi All,

I can't thank you enough for your caring and thoughtful messages. It really DOES help to know that so many of you are thinking of me and my brother.

Update - George still has to get the stent - the doc wanted to wait 2 weeks after the temporary drain was put in, which should be this coming Thurs., so I will probably be flying to CA to bring him back after that. We have successfully transferred his health care coverage and he is now registered in Kaiser Mid-Atlantic.

My gut has settled down a bit, fortunately. I am worrying not so much about taking care of my brother but about how much disruption will occur to our household. I'm not worried for myself, but for Scott and Derek. Scott has been a dear and realizes that this is something I must do, but he is not looking forward to it. He watched his dad die from the same thing (pancreatic cancer), so I'm sure a lot of bad memories will be dredged up for him. He also watched his wife before me go through a terminal illness and die at home with hospice. So he is well aware of the disruption that occurs - even more than I am. Derek lives at home and is in his senior year of college. It is these thoughts that are causing me the most anxiety.

It is reassuring to me to know that y'all will be here with stong shoulders and big ears to help me through this journey.

Thanks again to each of you.

Love,

Polly

Hi Polly,

I look in about once a week, if that, but saw your bad news and wanted to say how sorry I am. What a difficult time for you and your family. My thoughts are with you, and may you all find the strength to endure what lies ahead.

Love,
Alice
