lupus as well

Post by ahhneatah »

first I was diagnosed with MC Lc and 4 yrs later i have lupus (biopsy)
I take methotrexate and plaquenil
don't some of you take methotrexate for your MC?
however 20 yrs ago they said it was RA, zapped me with chemo and chemicals and I went to 30 yrs of remission

Dr now says it was probably lupus back then
I took Dr Fines genetic test and it showed that I have gluten sensitivity due to 2 genes

lots of duplicalte symptoms too like reynauds, weird rashes and joint pain and swelling
the meds control all that
staying on gluten free diet--seems to be necessary for me too

Hi Anneta like you I have other issues than MC... Along the way my main ones are CC, Crohns and in the winter I do have Raynauds.

For all of them I take methotrexates cousin Azathoprine (a form of chemo) and allupurinol, these meds are usually used in more serious conditions. Hopefully for just MC, a diet alone can control the symptoms, but in highly refractory cases they have been used. For first line treatments it's usually a diet first an if needed meds.

Like you I am eating GF and am also SF and mostly DF.

It does seem like these autoimmune conditions can come in groups. I hope you can find good management with the meds you are on. Do you find the mc symptoms respond to methotrexate?

yes I do think the methotrexate helps with symptoms but usually just when all seems well--along comes the same old problem! i m not ever totally secure
It sure helps to learn what others are doing
but all in all--symptoms are more "controllable"!!
